Infrastructure Technician - NHS – 6 Month Contract – Norfolk
VIQU have partnered with an NHS client who are seeking a Band 6 Infrastructure Technician to join a busy Digital Services team supporting critical IT infrastructure and business systems.
The successful Infrastructure Technician will provide hands-on third-line support, and be responsible for maintaining the availability, performance and resilience of a complex technical environment, while also contributing to infrastructure projects, technical upgrades and service improvements.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide up to third-line support across Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, telephony and enterprise infrastructure platforms.
- Manage and maintain virtualised server environments, ensuring optimal availability, resilience, performance and security.
- Lead technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis for major incidents, service outages and complex infrastructure issues.
- Support infrastructure upgrades, migrations and technology refresh programmes.
- Monitor and optimise network, server and system performance using proactive maintenance and capacity planning techniques.
- Collaborate with suppliers, project teams and internal stakeholders to deliver infrastructure improvements and digital transformation initiatives.
Key Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience as an Infrastructure Technician, supporting complex enterprise infrastructure environments in a senior or third-line capacity.
- Strong technical expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and Microsoft-based infrastructure technologies.
- Experience administering virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Solid understanding of LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls and network security principles.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Azure-connected services, backup solutions and disaster recovery technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation and stakeholder management skills with the ability to resolve critical technical issues independently.
