About the role
As a Senior Requirements Engineer, you will be responsible for the quality, structure and traceability of our requirements throughout the entire development lifecycle. The primary focus of this position is Requirements Engineering and Requirements Management. In addition, you will take on selected Systems Engineering responsibilities and work closely with System Architecture, Development, Integration, Test, Safety, Security, Quality Assurance, Project Management and Product Management.
You will ensure that stakeholder needs, requirements, system architecture, verification and management decisions are consistently linked. To achieve this, you will establish clear methods, standards and processes within an interdisciplinary development environment.
Your responsibilities
- Elicit, analyse, structure and document stakeholder, customer, system and subsystem requirements
- Translate operational scenarios, technical constraints and regulatory requirements into clear, complete and verifiable requirements
- Ensure requirements quality with regard to clarity, consistency, completeness, atomicity and testability
- Maintain the requirements hierarchy, prioritise requirements and facilitate the resolution of conflicting objectives
- Ensure end-to-end traceability from stakeholder needs through requirements and architecture to verification and validation
- Create traceability overviews, status reports and maturity assessments
- Prepare and facilitate requirements reviews and cross-functional alignment meetings
- Create, approve and manage requirements and architecture baselines
- Define and monitor baseline processes, approval criteria and change rules
- Conduct impact analyses for changes affecting requirements, architecture, interfaces, schedules, costs and risks
- Create, implement and continuously improve the Requirements Management Plan
- Create and maintain Requirements Engineering guidelines, templates, quality criteria and work instructions
- Develop and maintain architecture and modelling guidelines together with the System Architects
- Advise project teams on Requirements Engineering, Systems Engineering and the effective use of tools
Tool ownership for Jama and Cameo
- Provide functional administration and continuous improvement of Jama Connect
- Manage users, roles, permissions, projects and relevant configurations
- Maintain requirements structures, relationships, workflows, reviews, baselines, views and reports
- Support and enable Jama users through consultation, training and guidance materials
- Ensure data quality and methodological consistency in Jama
- Provide functional ownership and continuous improvement of Cameo Systems Modeler and the relevant Cameo environment
- Define and maintain modelling and architecture standards in Cameo
- Support the development and maintenance of models, packages, relationships, interfaces and architecture artefacts
- Ensure consistency between requirements in Jama and the system architecture and models in Cameo
- Work with IT and tool owners on integrations, updates and continuous improvements to the tool landscape
Management reporting and Systems Engineering
- Develop and maintain management dashboards providing transparent insight into the status, quality, coverage, maturity and risks of the requirements and architecture baselines
- Define suitable metrics and evaluation criteria together with Project Management, Engineering and senior management
- Prepare metrics on requirements progress, traceability coverage, review and approval status, open and overdue requirements, change volume, baseline status, and verification and validation coverage
- Analyse trends, bottlenecks, dependencies and quality risks, and derive appropriate measures
- Prepare regular status reports and decision-ready management materials
- Present status, risks, required actions and improvement proposals to management, project leadership and technical stakeholders
- Ensure that dashboards are based on reliable, consistent and traceable data from Jama and Cameo
- Support the definition and analysis of system functions, system boundaries, interfaces and technical constraints
- Contribute to the decomposition and refinement of requirements at subsystem and component level
- Support System Architecture in evaluating solution alternatives, dependencies and conflicting objectives
- Contribute to architecture and design decisions and assess their impact on requirements and verification evidence
- Support system integration, verification and validation, including the assignment of appropriate verification methods
- Review consistency between requirements, architecture models, interface descriptions and test or verification artefacts
- Collaborate with Product Management, Systems Engineering, Software, Hardware, Integration, Test, Safety, Security, Quality and other specialist functions
- Facilitate cross-functional alignments to clarify requirements, interfaces, responsibilities, dependencies and outstanding decisions
- Document outcomes, decisions, assumptions and open points, and consistently follow up on agreed actions
Your profile
- Degree in a technical discipline such as Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or a comparable qualification
- Several years of professional experience in Requirements Engineering, Requirements Management or Systems Engineering
- Excellent practical knowledge of Jama Connect, including administration, user and access management, reviews, baselines, traceability and reporting
- Excellent knowledge of Cameo Systems Modeler, ideally combined with experience in SysML and MBSE
- Experience creating and maintaining Requirements Management Plans, guidelines, templates and quality standards, as well as experience with configuration and change management
- Experience creating traceability overviews, dashboards and meaningful engineering metrics
- Sound understanding of functional and non-functional requirements, system architecture, interfaces, verification and validation
- Experience in a regulated, safety-critical or technically complex environment is an advantage
- Analytical, structured and quality-conscious approach to work
- Confident communication and facilitation skills in workshops, reviews and cross-functional meetings
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, combined with the ability to drive topics forward
- Excellent written and spoken German and English
