Job Description

Futures Recruitment are looking to speak with experienced Electrical Switchgear Engineers for an opportunity to join a growing engineering team delivering LV/MV switchgear and electrical distribution solutions.

The role will suit an engineer with solid electrical knowledge and hands-on experience of switchgear, control panels or distribution equipment. You’ll be involved across the full project lifecycle, supporting projects from initial customer requirements and engineering through to manufacture, testing, installation and commissioning.

Working closely with engineering, production and project teams, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and reviewing LV/MV switchgear designs and electrical distribution solutions
  • Interpreting customer specifications, technical requirements and electrical drawings
  • Preparing and checking schematics, wiring diagrams and associated engineering documentation
  • Specifying switchgear components, protection devices and other electrical equipment
  • Providing engineering support throughout manufacture and panel assembly
  • Supporting factory acceptance testing (FAT), electrical testing and commissioning activities
  • Investigating and resolving electrical faults and technical issues
  • Liaising with project managers, suppliers, customers and engineers on site
  • Making sure equipment and installations meet relevant electrical standards and safety requirements

We’re particularly interested in speaking with engineers who have previous experience within switchgear, control panels or electrical distribution environments and a good understanding of LV and/or MV systems.

You’ll need to be confident reading electrical drawings and schematics, with knowledge of protection, control and distribution equipment. A relevant electrical or electronic engineering qualification would be beneficial, although engineers with strong equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

You should also be comfortable fault-finding and working through technical problems, with the communication skills to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, project and customer teams.

If you have a background in LV/MV switchgear and are considering your next move, I’d be keen to have a confidential conversation and tell you more about the opportunity.
