Job Description
About the Role
At Etihad Airways, our international network is growing — and our People team plays an important role in supporting the employees and leaders who make that growth possible.
We are looking for an HR Officer to join our European People team, based in our Frankfurt office.
This is a broad, hands-on HR generalist opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to the business. You will support managers and employees across Germany and a wider cluster of European markets, providing practical HR guidance across employee relations, performance, recruitment, HR policy and the wider employee lifecycle.
Working with a high degree of autonomy while partnering closely with our regional HR leadership and specialist teams, you will become a trusted HR contact for the markets you support.
For someone looking to build an international HR career, this is an opportunity to gain genuine multi-country exposure within one of the world’s fastest-growing airlines.
What You'll Be Doing
As HR Officer, you will:
- Partner with managers across Germany and assigned European markets, providing practical advice and support across a broad range of people matters.
- Support employee relations and industrial relations matters, ensuring issues are handled fairly, consistently and in accordance with local legislation and Etihad policies.
- Guide managers through key people processes including performance management, recruitment, employee development, absence management and organizational changes.
- Support employees throughout the HR lifecycle, helping to deliver a consistent and positive employee experience.
- Build strong relationships with managers and employees across our commercial and airport operations.
- Support the application and interpretation of HR policies and procedures, balancing local requirements with Etihad’s wider people framework.
- Work effectively within the German employee relations environment, including engagement with relevant employee representative structures where required.
- Partner with colleagues across HR, Legal, Payroll, Recruitment, Onboarding and other specialist functions to resolve issues and deliver effective people solutions.
- Maintain accurate employee information and HR records, ensuring appropriate standards of confidentiality, data integrity and compliance.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve service delivery and enhance the experience of employees and managers.
- Support regional HR projects and initiatives as Etihad continues to grow its European operations.
- Travel periodically to other Etihad locations within Germany and the wider European region.
What You Bring To The Table
We are looking for an HR professional who combines strong HR fundamentals with the confidence to work independently and build trusted relationships with managers and employees.
Ideally, you will bring:
- A university degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business, Law or a related discipline.
- Approximately 3–5 years of relevant HR experience, although we are open to candidates with less experience who can demonstrate the right capability and potential.
- Broad HR generalist experience, ideally including employee relations, performance management, recruitment and HR policy.
- Experience working within the German employment environment and a good understanding of local employment practices.
- Familiarity with German employee representation and Works Council environments would be advantageous.
- Experience supporting multiple locations, countries or an international organization would be highly regarded.
- Previous experience within aviation, travel or another international, operationally focused organization would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to advise and support managers independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across different cultures and levels of an organization.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Fluent German and English, both written and spoken, are essential. Additional European language capability would be an advantage.
