Job Title: Senior Solutions Architect - Senior [Lead Strategist)

Work Location: Remote

Employment Type: Full-Time

Note: Need to travel to the client’s location in Springfield, IL, for one day on the first day.

Position Overview :

The Senior Solution Architect will provide overall technical architecture, solution design, integration guidance, and technical oversight for an enterprise technology initiative supporting the Bid Credit, Apprentice Initiative, and Career Services applications. The role will define a scalable, secure, accessible, and maintainable solution architecture using Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Dataverse, Power Automate, REST APIs, and related enterprise technologies. The position will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, developers, QA resources, security teams, and vendor partners to ensure application design, data models, integrations, workflows, and security controls align with approved requirements, Microsoft Power Platform best practices, and State of Illinois IT standards. The ideal candidate will have strong enterprise solution architecture experience, practical knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform and Dataverse, and experience designing data models, system integrations, automated workflows, security controls, and technical documentation within a structured enterprise environment.

Qualifications & Technical Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in solution architecture, technical architecture, application architecture, or enterprise application delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience designing enterprise solutions using Microsoft Power Platform technologies, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft Dataverse, and related platform services.
  • Experience designing Dataverse tables, entity relationships, metadata, business rules, constraints, security models, and audit structures.
  • Experience designing REST API integrations, batch interfaces, and enterprise system integrations.
  • Working knowledge of authentication, authorization, API payload design, error handling, logging, monitoring, and integration security.
  • Experience designing automated workflows using Power Automate, including approvals, routing, notifications, escalations, and exception handling.
  • Working knowledge of role-based access control, encryption, identity management, audit logging, and enterprise security principles.
  • Experience with identity and authentication technologies such as Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience with relational data modeling, data transformation, data migration, validation, and data-governance practices.
  • Experience mapping or migrating data from Smartsheet, spreadsheets, legacy systems, or other structured data sources into Dataverse.
  • Experience developing architecture diagrams, data-flow diagrams, entity relationship diagrams, workflow diagrams, and technical design documentation.
  • General understanding of Power Platform Application Lifecycle Management, including environments, managed solutions, connection references, and deployment practices.
  • Working knowledge of Azure integration services such as API Management, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Key Vault, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience supporting enterprise application development, integration, testing, deployment, and production transition activities.
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle methodologies and experience supporting Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery approaches.
  • Experience conducting architecture reviews, technical design reviews, code walkthroughs, performance reviews, and solution-quality assessments.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements and accessible application-design practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to business, technical, executive, and vendor stakeholders.
  • Microsoft Power Platform, Azure, Solution Architect, or comparable Microsoft technical certification is preferred.
  • Experience working in a government, public-sector, EPMO, or similarly governed enterprise environment is preferred.
