Job title : Associate Application Security & Akamai Onboarding Engineer

Primary Responsibilities

Akamai Platform Operations & Onboarding

1. Perform application onboarding activities within the Akamai platform.
2. Configure and maintain Akamai Property Manager configurations under established standards and guidance.
3. Assist with implementation of Akamai WAF protections and Edge Security controls.
4. Support origin lockdown initiatives by implementing approved traffic-routing and origin protection configurations.
5. Execute Akamai configuration testing, validation, and production deployment activities.
6. Troubleshoot Akamai, DNS, TLS, and application connectivity issues during onboarding efforts.
7. Support onboarding of applications onto the Akamai CDN and Edge platform.

Application Security Support

1. Assist with implementation and validation of security controls for internet-facing applications.
2. Support WAF rule deployment and monitoring.
3. Validate application functionality and security posture following onboarding activities.
4. Assist with remediation of publicly exposed origins and attack-surface reduction initiatives.

Release & Operational Support

1. Participate in production releases, cutovers, and rollback activities.
2. Support application validation during onboarding and migration activities.
3. Track onboarding progress, implementation tasks, and remediation activities.
4. Assist with post-deployment monitoring and operational stabilization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

1. Partner with Application Security, Networking, DNS, CDN, Infrastructure, and Application teams.
2. Work closely with senior engineers to implement onboarding and security solutions.
3. Document onboarding procedures, configurations, and operational processes.

Required Skills

1. Akamai Platform Experience (Highest Priority)

Candidates must have hands-on experience working within the Akamai portal and supporting Akamai onboarding activities.

• Basic understanding of web application delivery and security concepts

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Akamai engineer with 3-5 years of experience who can independently perform onboarding, configuration, testing, and deployment activities within the Akamai platform. While not expected to serve as the primary architect or technical lead, this individual should be capable of executing onboarding activities, implementing Akamai configurations, supporting WAF deployments, and assisting with origin lockdown initiatives under the guidance of senior engineers.

This person should effectively combine the capabilities of:

The successful candidate will help accelerate large-scale Akamai onboarding efforts by performing the day-to-day implementation work required to move applications onto the Akamai platform and support attack-surface reduction initiatives.
