Job Description

Description
We are looking for an experienced VP of Technology to lead enterprise tooling strategy for our investment management organization in Los Angeles, California. This leader will shape how technology platforms are evaluated, governed, and optimized across the firm while ensuring alignment with security, compliance, and architectural standards. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on partnership across procurement, risk, enterprise architecture, and business teams to improve value, control costs, and support a modern technology environment.

Responsibilities

Direct the end-to-end management of the firm's technology tools, including assessment, selection, implementation, consolidation, standardization, and retirement of platforms across the portfolio. Lead the review of new technology requests by creating and overseeing a consistent framework for evaluation, scoring, approval, and adoption decisions. Oversee software licensing strategy by monitoring subscriptions, usage rights, entitlements, and allocation to maintain accurate records and reduce unnecessary spend.

Work closely with Procurement and Vendor Management to support contract discussions, renewal planning, and ongoing assessment of vendor delivery and performance. Define and uphold governance policies for technology tools, including access management, usage expectations, and controls that satisfy information security and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with Information Security, Risk, and Compliance teams on vendor risk reviews and remediation planning for tools used across the organization.

Analyze portfolio performance through reporting on adoption, active usage, utilization, and spending trends, and develop forecasts and cost-saving actions with tool owners to maximize return on investment. Partner with Enterprise Architecture to ensure approved tools align with enterprise standards, target architecture, and preferred application development patterns. Maintain a reliable inventory of systems and tools by coordinating with stakeholders across the firm to document ownership, renewal timing, entitlements, and supporting technical details.

Monitor market developments, regulatory expectations, and emerging technologies to guide continuous improvement of the organization's tooling and change management approach. Requirements
7+ years of experience in technology leadership, tooling strategy, infrastructure management, or a related function. Demonstrated knowledge of AWS technologies, Cisco technologies, and core infrastructure environments. Experience building or improving governance processes for enterprise tools, software licensing, and vendor oversight.

Strong understanding of security, risk, compliance, and access control considerations within regulated business environments. Ability to work cross-functionally with architecture, procurement, security, compliance, and operational teams. Familiarity with Agile Scrum practices and the ability to support structured technology evaluation and rollout processes. Strong analytical skills with experience reviewing usage data, budgets, forecasts, and cost optimization opportunities.

Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence decisions at senior levels of the organization. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.
