This role includes participation in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours emergency cases, with a stipend for every on-call shift.

Located just two blocks from Lake Chelan in Central Washington, The Village Veterinarian is a locally led small animal hospital serving a close-knit community surrounded by year-round outdoor recreation. We are partnered with Associated Veterinary Partners (AVP), a veterinarian-founded organization that provides operational support while preserving local leadership and clinical autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians with exams, treatments, procedures, and diagnostics within Washington scope of practice
  • Provide safe, low-stress restraint and handling for patients
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and maintain accurate records of care
  • Prepare exam rooms, surgical suites, and equipment, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments
  • Maintain kennel cleanliness, patient comfort, feeding, and walking
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to assist the veterinarian with after-hours emergency cases
  • Communicate with clients in a friendly, professional manner and support the front desk as needed
  • Assist with inventory stocking and maintaining a clean, organized hospital
  • Follow hospital safety, infection control, and compliance protocols

Qualifications:

  • Prior veterinary assistant or animal care experience preferred; we are willing to train the right candidate
  • Strong work ethic, compassion for animals, and a team-first attitude
  • Ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced and emergency environment
  • Clear communication skills with clients and coworkers
  • Availability for a rotating on-call schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to respond to the hospital within 15 to 20 minutes while on call
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Pay rate: $20.00 to $24.00/hr (depending on experience)
  • On-call stipend: $50 per weeknight on-call shift, $100 per weekend on-call day, and $150 per holiday on-call day, plus hourly pay for all time worked when called in (overtime paid at time and a half over 40 hours per week)
  • Comprehensive health, vision, dental, and life insurance options
  • 401(k) with company matching
  • PTO
