Hybrid 3 days onsite / 2 days remote in Tysons Corner, VA

Our client seeks a Financial Business Analyst to analyze, validate, and enhance automated surveillance systems across asset classes and regulatory domains. The role will bridge regulatory requirements and technical implementations, reverse-engineer pattern logic, and drive UAT and release validation. The analyst will leverage generative AI tools to expedite analysis, documentation, and automation while ensuring regulatory accuracy.

Rate: $65.00 to $70.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Reverse-engineer surveillance pattern source code and document data pipelines, business rules, exceptions, and output schemas.
  • Maintain a knowledge base of surveillance patterns across regulatory domains.
  • Perform requirements-versus-code gap analysis to identify coverage risks.
  • Validate releases by comparing production and UAT outputs and assessing firm-level impacts.
  • Build local testing environments and design multi-scenario test cases.
  • Package standardized release artifacts including scripts, QC results, and requirements documents.
  • Write complex queries to support investigations and generate management reports.
  • Maintain reference data sets and assess data incident impacts using dependency maps.
  • Develop automation tools for ticketing, documentation, and workflow optimization.
  • Create testing frameworks and data visualization reports with comparisons and summary statistics.
  • Leverage AI assistants to accelerate code comprehension, documentation, testing, and reporting.
  • Design structured AI workflows and maintain curated AI project workspaces.
  • Coordinate multi-step analytical tasks via AI and validate AI outputs for regulatory accuracy.
  • Manage project boards, track enhancements and defects, and coordinate releases including UAT sign-off.
  • Draft and update BRDs, mentor analysts, and report on regulatory and technology trends.

Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in regulatory technology, surveillance systems, or capital markets data analysis.
  • Proficiency in SQL for large-scale, distributed data analysis.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language for analysis and automation.
  • Experience interpreting complex data pipelines and business logic in source code.
  • Strong analytical skills for independent data validation and discrepancy investigation.
  • Excellent documentation skills for translating technical details into business-facing content.
  • Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet tools.
  • Preferred: Major in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of SEC/FINRA rules and reporting requirements.
  • Preferred: Experience with distributed query engines and big data platforms.
  • Preferred: Experience with project management and documentation tools and their APIs.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with surveillance pattern architectures.
  • Preferred: Experience with source code management and release branch workflows.
  • Preferred: Experience using generative AI tools to accelerate analysis and documentation.
  • Preferred: Ability to craft effective prompts and structured contexts for reliable outputs in regulated settings.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
