Systems Architect – Azure Cloud Modernization - LADBS

Background

LADBS is modernizing and replacing legacy applications with cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure. Systems Architects will serve as forward-deployed engineers embedded with LADBS teams, designing and delivering modern Azure solutions while migrating legacy on-premises workloads to the cloud.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain modern Azure architectures (capture, storage, AI enrichment, search, portals) that replace legacy applications and align with business goals
• Migrate legacy on-premises workloads to Azure using Azure Blob Storage, Azure AI Search, Azure Document Intelligence, and event-driven pipelines while ensuring data integrity and continuity of service
• Implement CI/CD frameworks in Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions with repeatable, reliable deployment pipelines and automated testing
• Collaborate with the LADBS cloud solutions architect to align new solutions with platform architecture, networking, identity, and security infrastructure
• Work with development and operations teams to improve system reliability, scalability, and performance
• Ensure architectures support records retention, legal hold, public records access, and large-scale growth over the system lifetime
• Document processes and perform periodic system reviews to ensure adherence to established standards
• Evaluate and advise on technical aspects of the modernization product backlog with the project lead
• Define Azure infrastructure Reference Architectures for common solution archetypes
• Provide weekly and monthly status reports and facilitate status meetings on progress, risks, and delivery concerns

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Proven experience as a Systems Architect or forward-deployed engineer, delivering and operating robust, scalable systems directly alongside business users
• 5+ years of software development experience with C# and Python
• 5+ years managing IT systems and architectures
• 3+ years of project management and leadership experience
• Demonstrated technical proficiency with Microsoft Azure:
  • App Services, Functions, AKS / Container Apps
  • Azure SQL, Blob Storage, AI Search
• Proficiency in .NET Core, Python, C#, Docker, and Git
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions)
• Experience with Agile methodologies and software development
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Bicep / Terraform)
• Experience with Azure AI services
• Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration in dynamic, fast-paced environments
