Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Senior Software Architect to lead the architecture, design, and engineering of large-scale banking applications. This role requires a strong history of Java application development, deep expertise in distributed and web-based systems, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into secure, scalable, and resilient technology solutions.

The ideal candidate will have progressed from a hands-on Java developer into an architecture leadership role while continuing to remain technically engaged. The architect will lead the design of cross-functional, multi-platform application ecosystems and define application components, integration patterns, platforms, interfaces, engineering standards, and development tools.

Candidates should bring prior experience working in a technology consulting organization such as Incedo or a similar engineering-led consultancy, with demonstrated success delivering enterprise solutions for banking or financial-services clients.

 

Required Qualifications

• 14 to 18 years of overall software engineering and architecture experience.
• Strong and demonstrable history of hands-on Java development. This is a mandatory requirement.
• Experience progressing from Java developer or technical lead into application, solution, or software architecture roles.
• Deep knowledge of:
  • Java and enterprise Java development
  • Spring, Spring Boot, and related frameworks
  • Microservices and domain-driven architecture
  • RESTful APIs and API-first design
  • Distributed systems and web-based applications
  • Event-driven and asynchronous architecture
  • Relational and NoSQL databases
  • Cloud-native architecture and container platforms
  • DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability
• Experience producing solution architecture documents, technical blueprints, logical and physical architecture diagrams, sequence diagrams, data-flow diagrams, and architecture decision records.
• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks, principles, capability models, and governance practices.
• Experience performing technology evaluations, architecture reviews, risk assessments, and solution trade-off analyses.
• Proven ability to lead architecture across multiple applications, platforms, delivery teams, and business functions.
• Strong experience designing secure, scalable, resilient, and high-volume enterprise applications.
• Banking or financial-services technology experience.
• Prior experience with Incedo or a comparable technology consulting, digital engineering, or product engineering organization.
• Strong communication, stakeholder-management, consulting, and technical-presentation skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model from one of the listed locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience with high-volume banking platforms, regulated applications, or mission-critical transaction-processing systems.
• Experience modernizing monolithic applications into microservices or modular architectures.
• Familiarity with TOGAF or comparable enterprise architecture frameworks.
• Experience with Kubernetes-based application platforms and public-cloud services.
• Exposure to artificial intelligence and machine learning platforms in regulated enterprise environments.
• Relevant Java, cloud, Kubernetes, security, or architecture certifications.
• Experience working with globally distributed teams in an onsite-offshore consulting delivery model.
