We are seeking a practical and motivated Farm Engineer to join a busy engineering and maintenance team supporting a modern agricultural operation.
This is a hands-on role offering a varied workload across the maintenance, repair, development and improvement of agricultural machinery and equipment. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently, helping to minimise downtime and support day-to-day operations.
This position would suit someone with a strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys problem-solving and working both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment.
- Complete maintenance documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs in line with manufacturer guidelines.
- Inspect, remove and replace machinery components as required.
- Assist with the design, development and improvement of new and existing machinery.
- Manufacture and machine components within a workshop environment.
- Test and evaluate mechanical, pneumatic and low-voltage electrical systems.
- Record and report findings from inspections, testing and repairs.
- Prioritise workloads effectively to ensure operational requirements are met.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the workshop and working areas.
- Support operational teams with on-site maintenance and breakdown response where required.
- Work in accordance with all health and safety, hygiene and company procedures.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in an engineering, agricultural engineering, mechanical maintenance or similar role.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and repair faults.
- Experience working with agricultural, plant, industrial or production equipment.
- The ability to read and follow technical information and manufacturer guidelines.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive and safety-conscious approach to work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Agricultural engineering experience.
- Basic electrical and pneumatic fault-finding knowledge.
- Welding, fabrication or machining experience.
- Relevant engineering qualifications or apprenticeship training.
- A flexible and reliable approach to work.
- Willingness to work both within a workshop environment and outdoors when required.
- Commitment to maintaining excellent health and safety standards.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
