Job description

Need an in-person interview
Mandatory Requirements

  1. More than seven (7) years of experience, with at least two (2) years in a leadership role.
  2. Four (4) years of experience administering, configuring, and optimizing enterprise messaging systems (specifically Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or IBM MQ).
  3. Three (3) years of experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures and message schemas.

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Confluent Certified Developer or Administrator (for Kafka) or equivalent messaging platform certification.
  2. 5 years of experience with cloud-native messaging services (e.g., AWS SQS, SNS, Kinesis, or Azure Event Hubs).
  3. 5 years of experience with performance tuning, cluster management, and disaster recovery of message brokers.
  4. 5 years of experience with security protocols (SSL/TLS, SASL) and access control lists (ACLs) for messaging infrastructure.

Position Overview & Key Responsibilities

The Lead Integration Engineer (Messaging) (Specialist III) is a senior technical leadership role responsible for the strategic design, implementation, security, and operational excellence of enterprise-scale messaging, queuing, and event-streaming platforms. Serving as the primary authority on asynchronous communication, you will design high-throughput, low-latency event-driven architectures that connect complex, distributed systems. This role requires deep technical expertise in managing message brokers (such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, and IBM MQ) across hybrid and cloud environments, combined with the leadership capabilities necessary to establish enterprise integration standards, secure data pipelines, and mentor engineering teams.

  • Enterprise Platform Administration: Administer, configure, and optimize enterprise-grade messaging and event-streaming platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ), ensuring 24/7 availability, high performance, and scalability.
  • Event-Driven Architecture & Schema Design: Design and implement scalable event-driven architectures. Define, govern, and maintain robust message schemas (e.g., Avro, JSON Schema, Protobuf) and data contracts to ensure seamless, decoupled communication across distributed systems.
  • Cluster Management & Disaster Recovery: Manage broker cluster configurations, partition strategies, and replication factors. Design, test, and execute comprehensive disaster recovery (DR) and high-availability (HA) strategies for messaging infrastructure.
  • Cloud-Native Messaging Integration: Architect, deploy, and manage cloud-native messaging and streaming services (e.g., AWS SQS, SNS, Kinesis, or Azure Event Hubs) to support hybrid-cloud application environments.
  • Performance Tuning & Observability: Proactively monitor system health, analyze performance bottlenecks, tune broker and JVM configurations, and troubleshoot complex connectivity, consumer lag, or data-loss issues.
  • Infrastructure Security & Compliance: Enforce rigorous security controls across all messaging platforms, including SSL/TLS encryption (in transit and at rest), SASL authentication mechanisms, and fine-grained Access Control Lists (ACLs) to protect sensitive data pipelines.
  • Technical Leadership & Developer Consulting: Provide technical direction and architectural governance for enterprise integration projects. Collaborate with and consult application development teams on integrating asynchronous messaging patterns, and mentor junior engineers.
