Salary: £85,000- £95,000 per annum
As a Senior Android Engineer in Midnite’s Core team, you’ll lead the technical delivery of customer-facing Android experiences. Working closely with Product, Design, and Engineering, you’ll turn customer problems into reliable, polished releases, mentor other engineers, and raise the quality of the wider Android platform.
You will:
Lead the design, development, and release of significant customer-facing Android features within the Core team
Own technical work end-to-end: clarify the problem, shape the approach, manage trade-offs, ship safely, and learn from outcomes
Set and evolve Android architecture, modularisation, and engineering practices as the product scales
Build hands-on with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, producing maintainable, well-tested code
Drive performance, reliability, accessibility, and a polished customer experience
Lead code reviews and raise standards for testing, observability, and release quality
Mentor and support other engineers, sharing context and Android expertise across the team
Influence product and technical decisions with Product, Design, Backend, Web, iOS, and the wider Android discipline
What you’ll bring:
5+ years of commercial native Android development, with evidence of growing scope and responsibility
A strong record of shipping and supporting production Android apps on Google Play
Deep Kotlin expertise and substantial hands-on Jetpack Compose experience
Experience designing and evolving Android architecture, including clear separation of concerns and modularisation; able to explain trade-offs
Strong knowledge of Coroutines, Flows, lifecycle-aware work, testing, and Android-specific edge cases
Experience improving app performance, stability, and production quality
A thoughtful testing approach using unit and Android UI testing (for example JUnit, Espresso, or Compose Testing)
Experience with APIs, networking, data persistence, and dependency injection; Koin is useful
Ability to lead significant features from discovery through delivery and assess their outcomes
Evidence of mentoring engineers, improving code quality, and influencing technical decisions
Strong product judgement and a focus on customer experience
Clear communication and effective collaboration in a fast-moving cross-functional team
