Overview
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mission-critical mechanical infrastructure supporting data center operations. This position plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of large-scale cooling and HVAC systems, including industrial chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, cooling towers, piping networks, and associated mechanical equipment.
The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with complex industrial equipment, and the ability to safely execute preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities in a critical environment where system reliability and uptime are essential.
This is a 100% onsite position in Wisconsin
Pay Rate may range from $35-$50 depending on your level of applicable experience, qualifications, and certifications.
Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical mechanical and cooling infrastructure.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize large-tonnage chiller systems and supporting mechanical equipment.
  • Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Respond to mechanical system alarms, failures, and abnormal operating conditions while minimizing operational impact.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of equipment failures.
  • Support commissioning, testing, turnover, and operational readiness activities for new and existing infrastructure.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, maintenance procedures, and operational documentation.
  • Partner with facility operations teams, vendors, contractors, and engineering stakeholders to execute maintenance and repair activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and equipment conditions utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with established safety, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on asset reliability, lifecycle management, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, critical facilities, data centers, commercial HVAC, power generation, manufacturing, or related environments.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting large mechanical systems and industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical equipment failures and perform effective repairs.
  • Experience working with pumps, motors, valves, piping systems, heat exchangers, and rotating equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • OSHA 10 or equivelant minimum.
