Job description

We are seeking a security-minded and growth-oriented Senior DataOps Engineer with 6+ years of experience to lead the automation, optimization, and securing of our AWS data ecosystem.

This role is tailor-made for a curious engineer who runs toward complex challenges rather than away from them. You will design next-generation, secure cloud data infrastructure while continuously exploring and learning new AWS services and DevSecOps methodologies to keep our data stack ahead of the curve.
Job title:
Senior DataOps Engineer (AWS & Security Focused)

Department: Engineering / Data Engineering

Workplace type: Remote

Experience: 6-12 years

Employment type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • AWS Data Infrastructure: Design, deploy, and maintain highly available and scalable data platforms utilizing AWS-native services.
  • Data Security & DevSecOps: Embed security guardrails directly into the data lifecycle. Manage encryption, data masking, network security, and secure access controls.
  • Pipeline Automation (CI/CD): Build and manage automated pipelines for data infrastructure and code deployments using infrastructure-as-code.
  • Orchestration & Governance: Oversee data workflow orchestration and implement real-time security monitoring, logging, and automated compliance auditing.
  • R&D and Continuous Learning: Proactively research, prototype, and implement emerging AWS services and open-source data tools to solve complex infrastructure bottlenecks.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 6+ years of professional experience in DataOps, DevOps, or Data Engineering roles, with a minimum of 4 years dedicated to the AWS ecosystem.
  • Core AWS Stack: Deep hands-on expertise with AWS data and infrastructure services:
    • Compute/Infra: EC2, EKS, ECS, Lambda, Terraform.
    • Data/Analytics: EMR, Glue, Athena, Redshift, S3, Kinesis.
  • AWS Cloud Security: Proficient in securing cloud environments using AWS IAM (least privilege), KMS (encryption at rest/in transit), VPC networking (PrivateLink, Security Groups), Secrets Manager, and AWS GuardDuty/CloudTrail for auditing.
  • CI/CD & Containers: Strong experience building secure automated pipelines via GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline, alongside Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Data Orchestration & Processing: Strong proficiency with orchestration engines (Apache Airflow/MWAA, Step Functions) and modern data tools (dbt).
  • Coding & Databases: Advanced programming skills in Python and SQL, with a solid grasp of securing relational and NoSQL databases.

Soft Skills & Cultural Fit

  • Curious Explorer: Passionate about diving into the latest AWS whitepapers, learning new tooling, and experimenting with proof-of-concepts.
  • Security First Mindset: Naturally incorporates risk management and data privacy principles into every line of code and infrastructure design.
  • Challenged Driven: Thrives on debugging ambiguous system failures, performance tuning massive datasets, and solving untraditional cloud architecture problems.

We offer

  • Flexible working hours (self-managed)
  • Annual bonus, subject to company performance
  • Access to Udemy online training and opportunities to learn and grow within the role
