• Your primary role will be developing and maintaining computational pipelines, scalable analysis tools, and cloud-based environments for interrogating large-scale neuroscience datasets, including structural and functional connectomes collected across multiple species and imaging modalities.
• You will develop, maintain, and extend the software infrastructure that supports cloud-scale storage, visualization, and analysis of petabyte-scale neuroscience datasets used by researchers worldwide.
• You will design, implement, test, and optimize software systems supporting automated neuroscience data processing, visualization, and analysis on cloud and high-performance computing platforms.
• You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop software solutions, communicate technical progress, and contribute to research publications and proposals.
• You will present your work at technical meetings and collaborate with researchers across APL and external institutions.

• Hold a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Have 1+ year experience developing scientific software, computational methods, data analysis pipelines, and/or scalable software systems.
• Have experience developing scientific software using Python (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, PyTorch).
• Have experience with collaborative software engineering practices (Git, testing, CI/CD).
• Demonstrate excellent oral communication skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of collaborators.
• Are able to obtain Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

• Have experience developing interactive scientific visualization or web applications.
• Have experience with computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, or artificial intelligence for scientific datasets.
• Have experience with biomedical, neuroscience, behavioral, or biological imaging datasets.
• Have contributed to collaborative software projects through research, internships, or open-source development.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked.

APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
