Senior Python Software Engineer – Real-Time / Kafka

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Python Consultant to join a global technology team supporting a real-time trade capture platform.

The platform processes, normalizes, and enriches executions across multiple asset classes and feeds critical downstream systems, including real-time P&L and risk systems.

The ideal candidate will be a strong hands-on Python software engineer with experience building real-time/streaming systems, Kafka-based data pipelines, complex integrations, and production applications.

Experience with WSO (Wall Street Office) and/or Allvue is highly desirable but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance Python-based services supporting real-time trade capture and processing.
• Design, build, and support Kafka-based streaming and real-time data pipelines.
• Develop and maintain integrations with internal systems and third-party platforms.
• Support systems that process, normalize, and enrich financial trade executions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and integration issues.
• Analyze existing systems and quickly understand technical dependencies and data flows.
• Apply strong object-oriented design, design patterns, multithreading, and software engineering principles.
• Develop unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality production releases.
• Participate in CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Collaborate with distributed global technology teams and business stakeholders.
• Take ownership of deliverables and provide clear status updates.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on Python development experience.
• Strong software engineering background.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and real-time/streaming data pipelines.
• Experience developing and supporting complex integrations and production systems.
• Strong understanding of multithreading, object-oriented design, and design patterns.
• Experience with unit testing and integration testing.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex production issues.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and ownership skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a distributed global team.
• Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in NYC or Miami.
• Must be comfortable participating in technical/coding assessments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with WSO (Wall Street Office).
• Experience with Allvue or WSO/Allvue integrations.
• Functional experience with credit products, including:
  • Leveraged loans
  • CLOs
  • Syndicated loans
  • Related credit products
• Experience with Java or another programming language.
• Experience with MongoDB or another NoSQL database.
• Experience with modern IDEs and developer productivity tools.
• Experience working with financial trading, trade capture, risk, or P&L systems.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Python/software engineer who has built or supported real-time production systems and Kafka-based streaming applications.

WSO/Allvue experience is a strong plus, but candidates without WSO/Allvue experience will still be considered if they have strong Python, Kafka, real-time, integration, and production engineering experience.

Work Location

New York City, NY or Miami, FL – 5 days onsite per week.
Candidates must be comfortable with the onsite requirement.

Contract

Contract opportunity with potential for extension based on project requirements and performance.
