Working Pattern: On-site, 24/7 shift pattern

We are seeking a Network Security Engineer to join a specialist security function, supporting the protection of critical network infrastructure within a highly secure engineering environment. Working as part of a 24/7 security response team, you will combine network security expertise with incident triage, threat investigation and the continuous improvement of security systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure and maintain network security solutions, including next-generation firewalls, secure proxies and intrusion detection and prevention systems.
  • Support 24/7 security incident response, working with SOC analysts to investigate alerts, assess threats and coordinate appropriate responses.
  • Analyse network traffic and packet captures to identify suspicious activity, vulnerabilities and potential security breaches.
  • Implement security improvements, address vulnerabilities identified through security testing and help standardise network security tools.
  • Monitor network performance and security, troubleshoot complex technical issues and maintain compliance with security standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, VLANs and load balancing.
  • Hands-on experience configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting firewalls, ideally Cisco, Check Point or Palo Alto, alongside next-generation security features such as IPS/IDS and deep packet inspection.
  • Experience with secure proxy solutions, content filtering, SSL inspection, VPNs and security protocols, including IPSec and SSL/TLS.
  • Knowledge of network architecture, security zones, traffic monitoring and network management tools such as PRTG or Nagios.
  • Experience analysing network traffic, investigating security alerts and working with SOC teams would be beneficial. Familiarity with SIEM platforms such as Splunk Enterprise Security or LogRhythm, and tools such as Darktrace, would also be advantageous.

This position offers a lucrative benefits package, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Company bonus scheme, based on company performance.
  • Strong employer pension contribution.
  • Opportunity for paid overtime.
  • Generous flexi leave allowance, with additional days available.
  • Enhanced parental leave, covering maternity, adoption, shared parental and paternity leave, plus neonatal leave and fertility testing/treatment support.
  • Excellent on-site facilities, including subsidised meals and free car parking.

Please note that due to the nature of the client's business, only candidates who currently hold full British Citizenship without limitations, or Dual Nationality inclusive of British Citizenship, will be considered. Successful candidates will also be required to complete the relevant security screening, including the required security clearance.
