Advanced Systems Administrator Linux | Windows | VMware Pittsfield, MA Pay Estimated: $49.45 - $54.45/Hour U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law We are hiring an Advanced Systems Administrator to support secure DoD cyber and Information Technology environments, including physical and virtual infrastructure supporting multiple Communities of Interest.

This role requires advanced systems administration experience with Red Hat Linux, Windows Server, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, vulnerability management, STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, NIST SP 800-171/800-53, system patching, networking, backup and disaster recovery, and cybersecurity compliance. This role supports the administration, maintenance, design, development, deployment, and security of Limited Access Area (LAA) infrastructure.

Responsibilities include vulnerability scanning and remediation, operating system and vendor software patching, antivirus updates, system performance monitoring, backups, availability, troubleshooting, and implementation of secure infrastructure solutions.

• Administer and maintain multiple secure physical and virtual IT infrastructures supporting cyber and engineering environments.
• Design, develop, build, test, deploy, and continuously maintain secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure solutions.
• Administer Red Hat Linux, Windows Server, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, application environments, and related technologies.
• Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and infrastructure health to maintain reliable operations.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, operating system, application, and network issues.
• Perform vulnerability scanning, analyze findings, and implement system remediation.
• Apply operating system and vendor software patches to servers and network devices.
• Maintain antivirus and endpoint security updates to support cybersecurity and compliance requirements.
• Implement Linux and Windows security controls using STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, and applicable system-hardening requirements.
• Support compliance with NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, CMMC, System Security Plans, and related cybersecurity controls.
• Manage system backups and support disaster recovery strategies to protect infrastructure availability and data.
• Support secure network configurations and troubleshoot infrastructure connectivity issues.
• Perform systems analysis and maintain infrastructure as technologies and security requirements evolve.
• Provide technical support to users across varying levels of technical expertise.
• Perform system changes in accordance with established change management requirements.
• Engineer infrastructure with system security as a primary design requirement.
• Research and troubleshoot complex technical issues across secure computing environments.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI technologies to continuous improvement and infrastructure innovation.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
• Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, a related specialized field, or equivalent relevant experience and certifications.
• 5+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 3+ years with a master's degree.
• Must meet DoD 8570.1 certification requirements for IAT Level II or higher.
• CompTIA Security+ certification required at minimum within 6 months of hire.
• Advanced knowledge of Red Hat Linux, Windows Server, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, application environments, and/or related infrastructure technologies.
• Experience architecting, deploying, and maintaining secure, reliable, and flexible IT infrastructure and systems.
• Experience implementing Linux and Windows security controls using STIGs and CIS Benchmarks.
• Experience researching, diagnosing, and resolving complex technical issues.
• Familiarity with NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, CMMC, System Security Plans, and related cybersecurity compliance controls.
• Experience operating within formal change management requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of networking concepts.
• In-depth knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery strategies.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, operating system, and network issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, GitLab, Docker, and Ansible.
• Scripting and automation experience using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies.
• Experience with Tenable Nessus vulnerability scanning and Splunk.
• Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) experience.
• Endpoint Security Solution (ESS) experience.
• Experience engineering systems with cybersecurity and system security incorporated throughout the infrastructure lifecycle.
• Experience providing technical support across multiple levels of system and user complexity.
