Job Description

Job Title: Employee Benefits Consultant

Location: Stockton-on-Tees

Salary: £40,000-£50,000, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate

Benefits: Hybrid and flexible working arrangements, ongoing professional development and qualification support, clear career progression opportunities

About the Company:

An established, independent financial services group is investing significantly in the growth of its Employee Benefits division. The business supports a diverse portfolio of corporate clients and is developing a joined-up proposition spanning Workplace Pensions, Healthcare, Group Risk, salary sacrifice, employee engagement and wider financial wellbeing.

This is an opportunity to join a small, collaborative team at an important stage of its development, with genuine scope to influence how the proposition evolves.

Role Summary:

This is a heavily client-facing position with Workplace Pensions at its core. You will take ownership of existing schemes, deliver technical and governance reviews and help develop the firm's Workplace Pensions proposition as the client base grows.

The remit goes considerably wider than pensions. You'll work across Healthcare, Group Risk and a broader range of Employee Benefits solutions, identifying where clients could benefit from additional support and helping develop long-term relationships.

For someone who enjoys combining technical knowledge with commercial responsibility, this offers the opportunity to make the role your own rather than simply inherit a fixed portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the Workplace Pensions proposition: Manage existing schemes and help develop a growing area of the business, giving you significant influence over its future direction.
  • Deliver pension governance and technical reviews: Produce and present annual Workplace Pension Governance Reviews while providing clients with clear, ongoing advice and support.
  • Develop SME client relationships: Work directly with decision-makers to understand their wider people and benefits challenges and become a trusted point of contact.
  • Support wider Employee Benefits: Work across Healthcare, Group Risk, salary sacrifice, wellbeing and employee engagement solutions, creating broader exposure than a traditional insured-benefits position.
  • Identify new business opportunities: Manage inbound opportunities and proactively identify appropriate cross-sell opportunities across Employee Benefits and the wider group.
  • Help shape a growing division: Work closely with senior leadership to improve the proposition, support future growth and contribute ideas as the team expands.

Requirements:

  • Strong practical knowledge of Workplace Pensions, ideally gained within Employee Benefits, corporate pensions or a Financial Planning environment
  • Experience carrying out Workplace Pension reviews, governance work or ongoing corporate pension consultancy
  • Exposure to Healthcare/PMI and Group Risk products
  • Confident working directly with corporate clients and discussing broader commercial opportunities
  • Proactive, commercially minded approach with the willingness to work across a broad Employee Benefits proposition
  • Financial Planning qualifications or experience would be advantageous but are not essential

If this role isn't quite right, it's still worth speaking to one of our specialist team - we may be working on something that hasn't hit the market yet.
