Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced FinOps Consultant to help clients maximise the value of their cloud investments through effective financial management, cost optimisation, and governance practices. The successful candidate will work closely with business, finance, and technology stakeholders to develop and implement FinOps strategies, operating models, and cloud cost management frameworks across Azure environments.
This is a client-facing consulting role requiring strong communication, stakeholder management, and workshop facilitation skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers at both operational and executive levels.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver FinOps consulting services focused on Microsoft Azure environments.
- Conduct cloud cost optimisation assessments and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Develop cloud financial forecasting models and budgeting processes.
- Design and implement cloud governance frameworks, policies, and controls.
- Create and maintain executive-level reporting, dashboards, and cloud spend insights.
- Evaluate, implement, and optimise FinOps tooling and cloud cost management solutions.
- Design and establish FinOps operating models, including roles, responsibilities, processes, and governance structures.
- Facilitate client workshops to define FinOps strategy, cloud cost management objectives, and governance requirements.
- Present findings, recommendations, and business cases to senior stakeholders and executive leadership teams.
- Monitor cloud consumption trends and provide ongoing continuous improvement recommendations.
- Support chargeback, showback, cost allocation, and tagging strategies.
- Collaborate with cloud engineering, architecture, finance, and procurement teams to drive cost accountability and optimisation initiatives.
- Establish KPIs and success measures to track cloud financial performance and maturity.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering FinOps consulting engagements within enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise in Azure cost management and optimisation.
- Experience with cloud financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
- Knowledge of cloud governance frameworks and best practices.
- Experience implementing and managing FinOps tooling and cloud cost management platforms.
- Strong understanding of cloud consumption models, reserved instances, savings plans, and licensing optimisation.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and client-facing consulting skills.
- Ability to independently lead workshops, discovery sessions, and executive briefings.
- Experience developing FinOps operating models and governance structures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) or equivalent FinOps Foundation certification.
- Microsoft Azure certifications such as:
- Azure Administrator Associate
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Azure Security Engineer Associate
- Experience working within large-scale cloud transformation programmes.
- Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.
