Job Description
Amazon Web Services, Inc. seeks a Senior Cloud Hardware Engineer to lead mechanical design for next-generation AWS network and server products. You will architect chassis, thermal, and mechanical solutions for high-density, high-reliability cloud infrastructure, balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability. Partner with electrical, systems, and operations teams to define requirements, build prototypes, run lab validation, and qualify designs for global scale. In AWS's customer-obsessed, data-driven culture, you will own designs end to end and help shape the future of cloud hardware.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design for cloud server and network hardware, including chassis, thermal, and structural components.
- Translate customer and system requirements into detailed mechanical specifications and design documentation.
- Develop 3
- D CAD models, drawings, and assemblies optimized for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Perform thermal and structural analysis, drive cooling solutions, and validate performance through test.
- Prototype and qualify hardware through lab bring-up, environmental and reliability testing, and design iterations.
- Collaborate with electrical, systems, manufacturing, and operations teams to deliver scalable hardware at AWS scale.
- Drive design-for-manufacturing and cost optimization with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Own designs through full lifecycle from concept to production deployment in AWS data centers.
- Contribute to standards, best practices, and continuous improvement for cloud hardware design.
- Mentor junior engineers and support technical decision-making across cross-functional projects.
