The Role

• Interpret engineering drawings, mark materials, and prepare plate using methods such as oxy-fuel cutting and hand grinding.
• Assemble ship structures, including shell, decks, bulkheads, frames, and longitudinals, ensuring accurate fitting, fairing, and tack-welding.
• Fabricate ship items such as seats, ladders, false flooring, panels, hatches, watertight doors, and equipment.
• Form materials using machine tools including rolling, flanging, and cutting equipment like guillotines and mechanical saws.
• Apply safety principles and risk assessment requirements in all working conditions.

What You'll Need

• A Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers) or equivalent (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds) must be provided.
• Up-to-date fabrication knowledge and hands-on experience in construction or manufacturing environments.
• Understanding and application of core manufacturing processes, including tack welding to safety and quality standards.
• Confidence and responsibility in operating oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting equipment.
• Experience working safely in confined spaces or at height, supported by relevant safety certifications.
