Job Description

Welder | Ardrossan, United Kingdom | On-site | £38,662 plus shift allowance

The Role

  • Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminium using various MMA, MAG, MIG, FCAW, and automatic/semi-automatic processes.
  • Produce high-quality butt and fillet welds, including work with ceramic tiles within FCAW/MAG processes.
  • Conduct self-verification of all welds to ensure consistent quality and compliance with standards.
  • Adhere to strict safety working practices and SHE requirements, applying effective fume-control measures.
  • Contribute to the delivery of world-class naval ships, such as the Type 26 frigates.

What You'll Need

  • Hold a Modern Apprenticeship certificate/Trade Papers and relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Experience in ceramic-tile welding, Flux-Cored Arc Welding, Metal-Cored Arc Welding, and associated equipment.
  • Ability to produce welds that consistently meet visual and NDE examination standards.
  • Skilled in welding carbon-steel materials within the 4–15 mm thickness range.
  • Good understanding of SHE requirements and application of risk-assessment principles in all welding activities.
  • Background in maritime, construction, manufacturing, or similar environments, including MIG aluminium welding and automated welding systems.
