Location: London

Job title: Solutions Strategist

About Us
Schroders is a global investment manager which provides active asset management, wealth management and investment solutions. We aim to provide excellent investment performance to clients through active management. We serve a diverse client base that includes pension schemes, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations, high net worth individuals, family offices, as well as end clients through partnerships with distributors, financial advisers, and online platforms.

Established in 1804, we have around 5,500 people across 36 global locations. Schroders' success can be attributed to its diversified business model, spanning different asset classes, client types and geographies.

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We’re close to our clients, in the heart of the UK’s financial centre and we have everything we need to work flexibly.

The team

The Solutions division currently looks after over £200bn in assets across pensions, insurance and other long term asset owners like endowments and charities/foundations. You’ll join our team based in London but operating across the UK and internationally. Our team continues to grow to support the steady stream of opportunities landing with us across a diverse range of client types.

We are responsible for the design and delivery of tailored investment strategies for our clients, bringing the whole of the firm, which as of October 2026 includes Nuveen’s capabilities. We lead engagements with a wide range of clients, understanding their needs through deep investment knowledge and investment strategy insights. Team members come from a variety of backgrounds, most commonly from investment and actuarial consulting, solutions and broader asset management firms.

What you’ll do

As a senior member of the team, you will take a leading role in client delivery, oversight of workstreams and development of colleagues, working closely with senior stakeholders across Solutions and the wider firm.

  • Lead and co-lead client engagements across pensions or endowments and charities/foundations depending on your experience, acting as a day-to-day senior contact and ensuring high-quality, timely delivery.

  • Design and shape investment strategy recommendations (e.g. for UK DB pensions this would include journey planning, de-risking, LDI/hedging strategy, growth/return-seeking portfolios), incorporating market developments and client-specific constraints.

  • Provide technical oversight and review of analysis and outputs from strategy tools and modelling, ensuring robustness, clarity and appropriate framing of recommendations.

  • Own senior-quality client materials (papers, presentations, strategy documentation) and confidently present to trustee boards, corporate sponsors and internal committees.

  • Monitor and evolve investment strategies for clients, proactively identifying risks, opportunities and required actions (including governance, implementation and operational considerations).

  • Drive proposition development within one or more of our Specialist Functions (for example Fixed Income Solutions, Growth Portfolios, Private Assets etc.)

  • Contribute to proposition innovation and new business opportunities predominantly across pensions, endowments and charities/foundations by supporting proposals, thought leadership and identifying new opportunities with existing and prospective clients. This could also involve supporting international opportunities with colleagues based overseas.

  • Coach and develop junior colleagues, including oversight of work allocation, quality review, and on-the-job mentoring (with scope for formal line management depending on experience and team needs).

  • Collaborate across multiple teams (Client Reporting, Portfolio Management, Distribution, Asset Class teams, Operations, Risk, Legal/Compliance) to deliver effective end-to-end solutions for clients.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • Significant relevant experience in investment consultancy, asset management, fiduciary management/OCIO, solutions, or an actuarial/pensions advisory environment.

  • Strong understanding of UK DB pension scheme assets and liabilities, funding dynamics and governance frameworks.

  • Proven capability across investment strategies used across pensions, endowments and charities/foundations, including a range of asset classes and investment products and derivatives for risk management (rates/inflation hedging, collateral concepts, leverage and liquidity considerations).

  • Solid knowledge of industry investment trends and topical issues across pensions, and endowments and charities/foundations;

  • Demonstrable experience working directly with clients, including presenting complex concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

  • Evidence of leading workstreams and/or managing others (line management and/or matrix/project leadership), with accountability for delivery quality and timelines.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help

  • Experience with data visualisation (Power BI/Tableau) and/or Python is a plus, but not essential.

  • Experience supporting proposals, RFPs, or broader commercial activity (pipeline development, cross-selling, account planning).

  • Familiarity with multi-asset / solutions frameworks and practical implementation considerations (manager selection oversight, platform considerations, transition planning, operational readiness).

  • Experience working with client types outside of UK DB schemes (e.g. insurance or other long term asset owners like endowments and charities/foundations) is not required, but is considered a positive as we continue to grow our business in these areas.

  • Completion of CFA (or equivalent professional qualification) is desirable.

What you’ll be like

  • Well organised, with strong project leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.

  • A clear, confident communicator, able to influence senior stakeholders internally and externally.

  • Collaborative and proactive, comfortable working across teams, geographies and disciplines.

  • Intellectually curious, with strong judgement and a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Comfortable taking ownership and being accountable for outcomes, not just outputs.
