ERS is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to perform complex (journey-level) cybersecurity analysis work. The Cybersecurity Analyst II supports the agency’s cybersecurity operations by administering, maintaining, and maturing enterprise security technologies and services. This position is responsible for ensuring security applications, platforms, signatures, engines, patches, and definitions remain current, operational, and aligned with agency security standards and regulatory requirements.

Under the direction of the Information Security Officer, the Cybersecurity Analyst II assists in improving the effectiveness, stability, and maturity of existing cybersecurity tools and processes, while supporting operational security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response activities, and compliance initiatives. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·         Administers, maintains, monitors, and supports enterprise security applications and infrastructure.

·         Ensures security tools, software, agents, signatures, engines, threat intelligence feeds, and definitions are properly updated, patched, and operating effectively.

·         Mature and optimize existing security platforms, including endpoint protection, SIEM, vulnerability management, intrusion detection/prevention, and data loss prevention technologies.

·         Works closely with the Information Security Officer to prioritize cybersecurity operational initiatives and support ongoing security improvement efforts.

·         Monitors security systems for performance, availability, operational health, and configuration compliance.

·         Assists with the implementation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of security controls and cybersecurity technologies.

·         Researches, evaluates, and recommends enhancements to improve the effectiveness and maturity of the agency’s security posture.

·         Supports incident response activities through investigation, analysis, containment, remediation, and documentation of security events and alerts.

·         Provides technical guidance and support to agency personnel regarding cybersecurity tools, procedures, and best practices.

·         Supports security awareness initiatives and assists with the collection of operational security metrics and reporting.

·         Participates in after-hours maintenance, incident response, vulnerability remediation, and on-call support activities as required.

·         Assists in maintaining compliance with applicable security standards, regulations, and frameworks, including NIST SP 800-53, HIPAA, Texas Administrative Code (TAC) 202, and other applicable requirements.

·         Assists in developing, updating, and maintaining cybersecurity operational procedures, technical documentation, standards, and support materials.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.

·         Complies with all applicable agency policies, procedures, standards of conduct, and safety requirements.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications: application for employment must reflect how you meet each of the following minimum qualifications:

1.     Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in cybersecurity, information security, cloud computing or a related field. Qualifying experience beyond the minimum required may substitute for education. OR attainment of a diploma from a two-year technical school with specialization in computer technology and two years of related work experience.

2.     Two (2) years’ experience supporting or administering enterprise cybersecurity tools and technologies.

3.     Two (2) years’ experience with Windows and/or Linux Operating Systems.

4.     Experience with vulnerability management and security operations, or infrastructure security administration.

5.     Experience with networking concepts and security fundamentals.

6.     CISSP or CSSP.
