Software Engineering Project Manager

Our client, a leading technology company, is looking to hire a Software Engineering Project Manager.
Pay Rate Range:          $85 to $93/hr on w2 (all inclusive)
Contract Duration: -   3+ months

The Software Engineering Project Manager will lead complex software development projects from inception through delivery, working closely with Software Engineering, Product Management, QA, Design, Legal, Customer Success, Finance, and Marketing teams.

This role requires a highly organized and collaborative leader who can navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, drive operational excellence, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality SaaS software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

• Lead software development projects from planning through completion, ensuring quality, efficiency, and timely delivery.
• Develop, maintain, and drive detailed project plans for complex software products.
• Manage project priorities, capacity, dependencies, risks, milestones, and timelines.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to keep projects on track and resolve delivery challenges.

Navigating Ambiguity

• Operate effectively in fast-paced and evolving business environments.
• Identify potential challenges and proactively develop solutions.
• Adapt project plans and priorities based on changing business and technical requirements.

Stakeholder Communication

• Lead project meetings and establish clear objectives, actions, and ownership.
• Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and decisions to stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Build strong relationships across technical and business functions.
• Identify and resolve stakeholder misalignment while driving teams toward clear decisions.

Operational Excellence

• Establish scalable processes and project management practices to improve software delivery.
• Develop and utilize metrics and KPIs to monitor project health, efficiency, and performance.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across software development processes.
• Promote operational rigor and consistency across projects.

Collaborative Leadership

• Foster a collaborative, high-performance environment across cross-functional teams.
• Encourage proactive problem-solving, accountability, and knowledge sharing.
• Partner with engineering and product leaders to remove blockers and improve execution.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering project or program management.
• Proven experience successfully delivering complex software products and solutions.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Experience managing project plans, dependencies, risks, capacity, priorities, and timelines.
• Demonstrated experience driving continuous improvement and operational rigor.
• Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Experience working effectively with cross-functional technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Business Operations, Project Management, or a related field.
• Experience with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Slack, Quip, Box, and Keynote.
• Experience with SaaS platform development, cloud technologies, and platform services.
• Experience delivering software solutions for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
• Experience supporting the development and launch of AI-enabled software features.
• Experience working in fast-paced technology organizations with complex, cross-functional development environments.
