Candidates should have an active clearance (secret/top secret, etc.) to be considered for this position due to the nature of the work being done.

Work Schedule:

This position will be 100% onsite due to the nature of the work. There may be some remote flexibility on a case-by-case basis but there are no regular remote days.

Interview

1st round interview will be a Zoom with the hiring manager. 2nd round interview will be a Zoom with additional team members as needed.

DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for building and maintaining the day-to-day operation of computer networks that companies and organizations rely on. These networks typically include an intranet, extranet, local area network (LAN), and wide area network (WAN). Designs and plans network systems. Designing and developing the network for both LAN and WAN. Design, configure and deploy LAN and WAN network connections, hardware, software and communication links and services. Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific, detailed information for technology selection, implementation, and deployment, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network systems. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls, proxies, load balancing, etc. Prepares appropriate network documentation, including operational instructions. Evaluates and reports on new network technologies, to enhance capabilities of the network. May require knowledge of network topography for cloud integration. May implement applications of machine to machine (M2M) communication to enhance the efficiency and security of the organization s operations.

BACKGROUND/NEED:

The Enterprise Technology and Tools (ETT) Team provides resources to assist with compliance execution, reporting, and vulnerability-remediation activities. These services are offered across the Laboratory through the ISD Embedded System Administrator (ESA) Group. In addition, the ETT Team is responsible for the overall operation of monitoring tools. Such tools include SolarWinds, the Laboratory s IT service management (ITSM) tool (Footprints), and the Laboratory s central visibility tool BigFix.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Contribute to a team responsible for the operations of the Laboratory's enterprise classified networks.
  • Assist in the day-to-day role of supporting the network infrastructure which will include configuring and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls and other networking devices within the classified environment.
  • Has a basic understanding of troubleshooting and analytical skills to assist with the diagnosis and resolution of network issues
  • Is familiar with DoD STIGs and how to evaluate network hardware for STIG compliance.

MUST HAVE:

  • Configuration and Management of Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto and General Dynamics Type 1 Encryptors
  • Network Architecture
  • Networking Applications and Protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, DHCP, SSH, FTP, HTTP/S, BGP and OSPF.
  • Networking experience (routers/switches/firewalls/servers)
  • Network Systems Analysis
  • Optimization of Distribution Networks

NICE TO HAVE:

  • DoD STIGs
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g. Ansible)
