Job Description

We're recruiting a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover for an experienced HR Assistant Manager to support multiple office locations including Milton Keynes, Peterborough and Birmingham. This is a hands-on, operational People role combining employee relations, stakeholder coaching, people projects, and team leadership within a growing and ambitious business.

Client Details

Following significant investment and continued expansion, they are looking for an experienced HR professional to join their People team and provide support across several regional offices, partnering closely with managers and employees to deliver a high-quality HR service.

Description

As a People Manager, you will provide pragmatic and commercially focused HR support across a portfolio of office locations, working closely with leaders and employees to drive positive people outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a broad range of employee relations cases, including performance management, absence, disciplinary, grievance and capability matters.
  • Providing generalist HR advice and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Coaching and developing a junior member of the People team.
  • Supporting organisational and people-related projects.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple sites.
  • Promoting best practice and ensuring HR policies and processes are applied consistently.
  • Analysing trends and identifying opportunities to improve employee experience and people processes.
  • Supporting business growth by partnering with operational leaders on workforce and people matters.
  • This is a hybrid role requiring regular travel between offices in Milton Keynes, Peterborough and Leicester, with occasional travel to Birmingham as required. Travel expenses are fully covered in line with company policy.

Profile

The successful candidate will be an experienced HR professional who enjoys building relationships, solving problems and providing practical, people-focused advice.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a generalist HR position such as HR Advisor, HR Business Partner or People Manager.
  • Strong employee relations experience and confidence managing a range of ER cases independently.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring or managing more junior team members.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A professional, credible and approachable style with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload across multiple locations.
  • A proactive and positive approach, with a genuine passion for HR and supporting people.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between regional offices.
