Financial Capability Coach (Worker) Darwin, NT

Moneycare is The Salvation Army's national financial capability and financial counselling program, supporting people to build confidence, stability and long-term resilience. Everyone's financial story is different, and our person-centred approach helps people feel more in control of their future. This role plays a meaningful part in alleviating hardship, strengthening wellbeing and empowering people to make informed choices about their money. You will be part of a service that genuinely changes lives, offering hope, dignity and practical support to people navigating financial stress.

About the role

As a Financial Capability Coach, you will walk alongside people in the Darwin community to help them build skills, confidence and capability in managing their money. You will deliver one-on-one money planning support, facilitate community workshops and engage with local groups to strengthen financial literacy and wellbeing. You will take a relational, nonjudgmental and culturally respectful approach, recognising the broader life circumstances that may impact someone's financial situation. This role does not include providing financial counselling, financial advice or support with complex financial or legal matters. This is a full-time role; however, part-time hours are negotiable for the right candidate. This permanent position sits within the Community Engagement team, reporting to the Team Leader. Pay is in accordance with a SCHADS Level 3. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.

• Empower people to build confidence and skills to manage their money
• Deliver practical money education that supports long term capability
• Provide a safe, nonjudgmental and culturally respectful service
• Support people to access other services and strengthen community connections
• Develop collaborative, person centred case plans
• Facilitate community workshops and group education sessions
• Maintain accurate records and data in SAMIS
• Contribute to a high quality, community member focused Moneycare service
• Promote dignity, choice and self-determination in every interaction

There may be some travel to Alice Springs to support the wider team, with all costs fully covered by TSA.

What you will bring

• Cert IV in Community Services or related field or willingness to obtain Financial Literacy Education
• Skill Set or willingness to obtain
• Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
• Understanding of local Aboriginal communities and culture
• Strong communication skills, including working with people who may not have English as a first language
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
• Demonstrated money management and negotiation skills
• Ability to work with people experiencing hardship or crisis
• A person centred, relational and strengths-based approach
• Valid NT Working with Children's Check (Ochre Card)
• Current NT Drivers Licence
