Job Summary
We are seeking a C/LINUX Developer with strong low-level systems programming experience to support the modernization of enterprise authentication infrastructure. The environment is moving away from legacy Kerberos-based components, making deep C and Linux/UNIX engineering skills more important than prior Kerberos expertise. The ideal candidate is comfortable working close to the operating system and network stack, can maintain or modernize legacy Perl/Python code, and understands security concepts such as authentication, authorization, and cryptography.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, debug, and maintain low-level systems software primarily in C on UNIX/Linux platforms.
- Analyze and modernize authentication and security-related components as legacy Kerberos infrastructure is replaced.
- Work with systems and network programming concepts in a controlled enterprise environment.
- Maintain, migrate, or integrate existing Perl and Python scripts and utilities.
- Troubleshoot complex operating-system, process, memory, networking, and authentication issues.
- Collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams and participate in Agile ceremonies.
- Produce clear technical documentation and communicate technical findings to engineering and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to secure engineering practices and production-ready implementations.
Required Skills
- Strong C programming experience, ideally involving systems-level or low-level development.
- Deep UNIX/Linux engineering experience.
- Systems and/or network programming experience.
- Hands-on Perl and Python experience.
- Understanding of security concepts including authentication, authorization, and cryptography.
- Experience engineering within controlled enterprise production environments.
- Strong debugging, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Agile experience and familiarity with tools such as Jira.
Preferred Skills
- Contributions to UNIX/Linux-based open-source projects.
- Contributions to security-related open-source projects.
- Public GitHub, GitLab, or other code repositories demonstrating systems programming depth.
- Knowledge of Kerberos protocols or authentication infrastructure.
What Matters Most
This is not primarily a Kerberos-administration role. The strongest candidates will be C/Linux systems programmers who can work on authentication/security infrastructure. Kerberos knowledge is beneficial, but it is not essential.
