Job Description

Position: Lead Developer - Java/Frontend
Location: Raleigh, NC (On-site)
Client: State of North Carolina
Duration: 12+ Months

Job Description:
We are seeking a seasoned Lead Developer to drive the design, development, and maintenance of a high-impact Web Portal and enterprise applications. You will lead front-end and back-end efforts, work with modern Java/JEE stacks, and implement scalable, secure solutions in a fast-paced Agile environment. The role emphasizes hands-on development, architecture to execution, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to transform complex software solutions.

5 Key Responsibilities (highlights):

  • Lead design and development across front-end (Angular 7, React UI) and back-end (Java, Spring Boot) layers; translate business requirements into sustainable technical solutions.
  • Build, secure, and optimize RESTful and GraphQL APIs; implement data persistence with PostgreSQL on AWS.
  • Drive DevOps and cloud-first delivery with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Fargate/ECS/ECR, Lambda, S3, and serverless patterns.
  • Ensure robust security across presentation, services, and data layers; guide Agile-based project delivery and stakeholder communication.
  • Mentor team members, shape technical standards, and facilitate smooth transition of large, complex software solutions.

Required/Desirable Skills (selected):

  • Java/JEE, Spring Boot, REST API, JavaScript, Node.js, Express, Apollo GraphQL, GraphQL, Knex, passport, passport-saml
  • Front-end: Angular (7+) and React UI
  • Data: Amazon PostgreSQL, including database design and optimization
  • AWS: Fargate, ECS, ECR, AWS SDK, S3, Lambda; Docker; Kubernetes; serverless/container orchestration
  • Tooling: SVN, Eclipse, Gradle; experience in Enterprise/Hybrid environments; strong communication skills
  • Delivery: Agile methodologies; ability to lead/participate in large-scale transformations
