Job description

Role: RF Power Amplifier (PA) Design Engineer

Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite)
Duration: 12 Months

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced RF Power Amplifier Design Engineer to develop, simulate, optimize, and validate RF power amplifier circuits for wireless and communication applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in RF circuit design, Doherty power amplifiers, impedance matching, load-pull analysis, and RF performance characterization. This role involves hands-on prototype development, troubleshooting, and design verification to achieve optimal efficiency, linearity, stability, and output power.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop RF power amplifier architectures and circuits, including Doherty Power Amplifiers.
  • Perform RF impedance matching network design, load-pull analysis, and circuit optimization to improve overall amplifier performance.
  • Simulate and evaluate PA characteristics, including gain, output power, power-added efficiency, linearity, stability, and ruggedness.
  • Analyze the interaction between Digital Predistortion (DPD) and power amplifier behavior to optimize system-level performance.
  • Develop PA schematics, select appropriate components, conduct design reviews, and maintain detailed technical documentation.
  • Perform prototype bring-up, RF measurements, circuit debugging, and root-cause analysis of performance issues.
  • Validate amplifier designs under varying operating conditions, including temperature changes and supply-voltage variations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve design challenges and meet technical performance requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in RF Power Amplifier design and development.
  • Strong knowledge of RF circuit architecture and Doherty PA design.
  • Experience with RF matching networks, impedance tuning, and load-pull analysis.
  • Understanding of RF simulations and key PA performance parameters, including gain, output power, efficiency, linearity, stability, and ruggedness.
  • Knowledge of Digital Predistortion (DPD) and PA/DPD performance optimization.
  • Experience in schematic development, component selection, prototype testing, and design verification.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to perform RF measurements and verify design performance across temperature and supply-voltage operating ranges.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
