Job description
About Cinnamon
Cinnamon is the most ambitious independent Roblox studio in the world.
Our games have generated billions of visits. LifeTogether (4+ billion). BlockSpin (1.3+ billion). BayView (600+ million). Built from scratch, owned outright and funded by their own success. No investors. Just great games.
We’re expanding our development teams and looking for an exceptional Lead Roblox Developer who combines hands-on technical ability with strong game design judgement.
Someone who can take responsibility for a game, build an enjoyable experience and lead a small team towards making it successful.
The Role
You’ll combine hands-on development, technical game design and team leadership to build Roblox games experienced by players worldwide.
We’re looking for someone who can decide what to build as well as how to build it. You should be comfortable taking an idea from an early prototype through development, release and ongoing improvement.
Depending on your experience, your responsibilities may include leading a development pod, taking ownership of a product or contributing across multiple projects. We’ll discuss the appropriate scope during recruitment.
On a small team, your work directly influences the finished game.
The mechanics you design, the systems you build and the standards you set will shape what players experience.
What You’ll Do
Lead the development of Roblox games from initial concepts through release and ongoing updates
Design and build gameplay systems, mechanics and features using Roblox Studio and Luau
Create satisfying core loops, progression systems, economies and monetisation
Prototype quickly and iterate based on playtesting, player feedback and performance data
Set development priorities and coordinate the work of a small team
Collaborate closely with programmers, artists and other specialists
Take responsibility for the quality of gameplay, UI, audio and the overall presentation
Build readable, maintainable systems that other developers can understand and extend
Optimise performance across client and server
Debug and improve existing systems
Use AI tools to accelerate development while checking and improving their output
Contribute ideas that improve retention, engagement and the overall player experience
What We’re Looking For
Strong hands-on game development experience with clear examples of work you personally delivered
Strong technical game design skills and the ability to implement your own ideas
Proven experience shipping games or major gameplay systems
Experience taking meaningful responsibility for a game’s development and quality
Deep understanding of gameplay feel, player retention, progression systems and monetisation
Strong technical judgement and the ability to make architecture and gameplay decisions independently
Ability to rapidly prototype, iterate and polish gameplay based on testing and feedback
Experience leading developers or coordinating the work of a small development team
High standards for the complete player experience, including presentation and usability
Comfortable taking ownership of complex problems with minimal direction
Experience using AI tools in development and the ability to understand, assess and improve their output
Excellent communication and collaboration skills within a small team
Experience with UI, audio, VFX, optimisation, tooling, LiveOps or large-scale Roblox experiences is highly valued.
Roblox Experience Matters
Strong Roblox Studio and Luau experience is highly valued.
We’re also open to exceptional developers from other game development backgrounds who combine technical ability with strong game design judgement.
You may be an experienced Roblox developer, an independent game creator, a technical designer or a hands-on development lead.
If you’re coming from another engine, show us your ability to design and build enjoyable games. You should have a clear interest in Roblox, an understanding of its audience and a willingness to work directly in Roblox Studio.
Roblox has its own technical constraints, player expectations and production culture. Successful games require more than technically correct code. Features need to feel immediate, understandable and satisfying while operating reliably at scale.
We want to understand your individual contribution to previous projects.
Tell us what you designed, what you built, which decisions you owned and how your work influenced the finished game.
Strong Developers Take Ownership
Writing code is only part of the job.
We’re looking for someone who can be given a problem rather than a detailed specification.
You should be comfortable deciding how a game or system should work, identifying problems before they become blockers and pushing back when you believe there’s a better solution.
You should also be able to give clear feedback, support other developers and recognise when something technically works but still isn’t enjoyable.
AI is central to how we work. We expect you to use it to accelerate development while understanding the code and systems it produces. You remain responsible for reviewing the output, fixing problems and maintaining quality across a shared codebase.
That means taking responsibility for what you build from the first prototype through release and beyond.
What matters is whether the game gets better.
Location and Working Arrangement
This is a full-time, fully remote opportunity.
We are open to:
Permanent employees who are already based in the UK and have the right to work here
Remote contractors based anywhere in the world
Working arrangements and time zone requirements will depend on the team and the scope of the role.
We do not provide visa sponsorship.
Please state your salary expectations or contractor rate, location, time zone and availability in your application.
Why Join Cinnamon?
At Cinnamon, you’ll have the opportunity to shape games from the beginning, take substantial creative and technical responsibility and see your decisions reach players.
We move significantly faster than traditional AAA development while maintaining high expectations for quality. We believe Roblox deserves the same ambition, creativity and craftsmanship as any major gaming platform.
We’ve never relied on investors to build Cinnamon. The studio is funded by the success of the games we’ve created, allowing us to grow through our own products.
You’ll work with a team that has experience building and operating successful Roblox games, alongside specialists who can support the development of your projects.
Our goal is simple: build some of the best games on Roblox.
We’re highly selective about who we work with because every individual directly influences the quality of what we create.
If you’re excited by combining hands-on development, game design and team leadership, we’d love to hear from you.
What You Get
Base salary or contractor compensation appropriate to your experience and responsibilities
Additional performance incentives, with the structure and terms discussed during recruitment
Remote working
Company pension for eligible UK permanent employees
Significant responsibility and autonomy
Direct influence on game design, development priorities and product quality
Opportunity to lead a small development team
Support from an established studio and its specialists
Opportunity to help create the next Roblox hit
