About the Program

A leading insurance carrier is modernizing its enterprise ERP landscape, moving from PeopleSoft to Workday. At the center of the program is a new enterprise Data Hub built on Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and ADLS Gen 2.

Phase 1 delivers Finance. Subsequent phases extend the same hub to Actuarial, Investment, Reinsurance, and Risk. The Product Owner will shape the Finance data foundation that all later phases build on and help establish patterns for the wider insurance domain.

The Role

We are looking for a senior Product Owner with deep ERP Finance functional experience to own the Finance data, integration, and reporting backlog for this transformation.

You will work between Finance business teams, Workday functional consultants, and the Azure data engineering team, translating close, reporting, and control requirements into trusted, well-governed finance data products.

You do not need to be a Workday expert. You should have strong Finance expertise in at least one major ERP such as PeopleSoft, Workday, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

• Own, groom, and prioritize the Finance backlog for data, integrations, and reporting.

• Translate Finance requirements into epics, user stories, business rules, and acceptance criteria.

• Maintain a roadmap aligned with close cycles, cutover milestones, and downstream dependencies.

• Lead backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and demos.

• Provide functional leadership across GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, financial close, intercompany, reconciliations, controls, and reporting.

• Partner with Finance stakeholders to understand processes, data definitions, and reporting requirements.

• Support PeopleSoft-to-Workday Finance data mapping and integration decisions.

• Define finance data-quality rules, reconciliation requirements, and reporting validation criteria.

• Work with engineering teams to develop trusted and certified finance data products.

• Coordinate UAT, defect triage, data validation, reconciliation, cutover, and post-go-live stabilization.

• Drive adoption of new data products and reduce dependency on legacy extracts and manual reporting.

• Serve as the connection point between Finance teams, ERP consultants, and technical delivery teams.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in ERP Finance, Finance Systems, finance data, business analysis, functional consulting, or product ownership.

• Strong functional knowledge of Finance modules in at least one major ERP: Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.

• Strong knowledge of GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, financial close, reconciliations, financial controls, and reporting.

• Experience with ERP implementation, modernization, migration, or finance transformation programs.

• Experience creating user stories, acceptance criteria, process/data documentation, and UAT scenarios.

• Ability to work effectively with both Finance stakeholders and technical/data engineering teams.

• Experience with Agile delivery and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work a hybrid schedule from Cary, NC.

Preferred Qualifications

• Insurance or financial services experience.

• Exposure to statutory reporting, insurance accounting (STAT/GAAP), actuarial, investment, reinsurance, or risk functions.

• Hands-on PeopleSoft Financials and/or Workday Financial Management experience.

• Experience with Workday integration patterns such as EIB, Core Connectors, Prism, or FDM.
