The successful candidate will lead the planning, design, permitting, and delivery of projects involving stormwater management, hydrology and hydraulics, erosion and sediment control, watershed evaluation, grading and earthwork, roads, pipelines, pump stations, impoundments, wastewater systems, environmental restoration, and related civil infrastructure.

In this role, you will establish technical approaches, direct the work of engineers and designers, review technical deliverables, and make key engineering decisions. You will lead project teams in delivering technically sound, practical solutions that meet client objectives, regulatory requirements, budgets, and schedules. You will remain technically engaged by addressing complex or high-risk issues, guiding technical decisions, and providing senior-level review and oversight.

You will also manage client relationships, mentor developing engineers, support business development, and contribute to the continued growth of Arcadis’ civil engineering practice in the western United States.

Arcadis offers a flexible working environment and follows a hybrid work structure. The successful candidate will work from the office and remotely based on the needs of project and client teams. This is an opportunity to lead meaningful projects for a diverse range of clients while helping strengthen the technical capabilities of our civil engineering team.

Role accountabilities

In this role, you will:

· Lead the technical delivery and provide senior technical leadership of civil and environmental engineering projects involving site development, grading and earthwork, stormwater management, hydrology and hydraulics, erosion and sediment control, roads, pipelines, impoundments, and related civil infrastructure

· Direct and delegate design activities to engineers and designers and providing the guidance needed to successfully complete the work

· Review technical work products, including calculations, models, drawings, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and permit documents for technical accuracy and consistency with project requirements

· Make independent technical decisions and guide project teams in evaluating alternatives and developing practical solutions to engineering challenges

· Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate engineering activities across Arcadis technical disciplines and offices, as well as with clients, contractors, regulators, and external organizations

· Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities to provide additional value through expanded services and multidisciplinary solutions

· Mentor and coach engineers and designers, helping strengthen their technical judgment, project-delivery skills, and ability to take on increasing levels of responsibility

· Maintain knowledge of relevant industry, regulatory, and technical developments and contribute to Arcadis’ professional reputation and technical capabilities

This position will primarily be office based but will also include field assignments, construction observation, inspections, site assessments, and contractor coordination. The position will require the ability to travel up to 25%

Qualifications & Experience

First and foremost, do you share our passion for accelerating a planet-positive future? Do you want to help lead and grow a civil design practice serving clients throughout the western United States? If you combine strong civil engineering expertise with project leadership, sound professional judgment, and a commitment to client service, we encourage you to apply.
