Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Knowsley
Salary: Up to £45k depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time on site
Shift: On-call responsibilities apply

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a growing manufacturing facility.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled, hands-on mechanical engineer to join a developing production environment, where you will play an important role in maintaining plant reliability, reducing downtime and supporting continuous improvement.

The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of industrial production equipment and site services.
Your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out effective repairs.
Maintaining and repairing pumps, gearboxes, motors, agitators, valves and associated equipment.
Working on mechanical drives, bearings, seals and rotating equipment.
Maintenance and installation of industrial pipework and associated fittings.
Welding, fabrication and general mechanical fitting.
Working on industrial utilities including steam boilers and compressed-air systems.
Supporting equipment installation, modifications and improvement projects.
Identifying recurring equipment failures and recommending improvements.
Working alongside production teams to minimise equipment downtime.
Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with site health, safety, quality and hygiene procedures.

About You

At least 3 years' experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within an industrial, manufacturing, food, chemical or process environment.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Experience maintaining pumps, gearboxes, motors, valves and rotating equipment.
Experience with welding, fabrication and industrial pipework.
Good knowledge of health & safety procedures and safe systems of work.
The ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
