Location: UK Remote (rare ad-hoc travel)
Type: Contract, Inside IR35
Duration: 12 months
Start Date: ASAP
Clearance: Active SC required. Clearance must have been issued within the last 7 years. Eligible or lapsed cannot be considered
Interview Process: 1 stage technical interview

About the Role
You will join a data and analytics unit within a UK public sector organisation, working on a live AWS serverless data platform. The focus is on delivering new features and keeping the platform stable, with plenty of ownership over production support and code quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver new features and enhancements from analysis through implementation and support
  • Investigate, diagnose and resolve production issues across the platform and its integrations
  • Analyse existing code and implement maintainable, proportionate and low-risk changes
  • Build and support event-driven and serverless services on AWS
  • Deliver secure, scalable data sharing capabilities using AWS Batch and API Gateway
  • Expand and maintain automated test coverage using pytest, moto or similar tooling
  • Contribute to technical designs and agree pragmatic implementation approaches
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and support guidance

Must Have

  • Python development experience building and maintaining production services with boto3 and AWS SDKs
  • Hands-on and demonstrable use of AWS Lambda, EC2, S3, SQS, DynamoDB and CloudWatch
  • Experience with event-driven and serverless architectures
  • AWS Batch and API Gateway experience
  • Automated testing with pytest, moto or related tooling
  • Track record of troubleshooting production issues spanning multiple services and workflow stages
  • Ability to maintain clear technical and operational documentation

Nice to Have

  • Recent history of working with large-scale ETL pipeline platforms, including infrastructure, integrations and data flows
  • Experience supporting the application and infrastructure sides of a live service
  • Improving platform performance, maintainability and operational stability
  • GitHub Copilot and agentic workflows
