Location: Richmond, CA (Onsite)

Work Schedule
This position operates on a rotating shift schedule. Candidates must be available to work all shifts.
Shift Rotation:

• Morning Shift: 5:00 AM - 1:00 PM
• Swing Shift: 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM
• Graveyard Shift: 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM

Position Summary
The Shift Technician is an entry-level opportunity for mechanically inclined individuals interested in building a long-term career in the energy and automotive testing industry. Working as part of a team of technicians and mechanics, you will operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot engines and testing systems used in fuel performance research.
This position requires flexibility to work rotating shifts and the ability to follow detailed procedures in a safety-sensitive laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Operate automotive test engines and vehicles according to established procedures and specifications.
• Monitor engine performance and testing operations, making adjustments as required to maintain compliance with testing standards.
• Diagnose operational issues and perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on engines and control systems.
• Maintain fuel supplies and support continuous testing operations.
• Follow laboratory safety procedures related to fuel, oil, coolant, and other testing materials.
• Accurately document operational data and communicate findings with team members.
• Collaborate effectively with technicians, mechanics, and researchers to support testing objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience working with automotive engines, mechanical systems, or related equipment.
• Understanding of basic engine operation, including four-stroke internal combustion engines.
• Experience working in a technical, industrial, laboratory, manufacturing, or mechanical environment.
• Ability to monitor and adjust process control systems or operational equipment.
• Basic algebra and math skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Formal training in automotive technology, mechanical systems, electronics, instrumentation, or automated controls.
• ASE certification or similar technical certification.
• Experience working non-traditional hours or rotating shifts.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience using computer-based monitoring or control systems.

Employees typically work a specific shift for 2 to 4 months before rotating to a different shift. Workdays may also rotate between Monday-Friday and Wednesday-Sunday schedules.
