Threat Detection & Security Analytics Engineer - Georgia

Job Description A leading enterprise technology organization is seeking a Threat Detection & Security Analytics Engineer to join its cybersecurity team. This role is designed for a security-first professional who can strengthen threat detection, monitoring, incident analysis, and vulnerability management efforts while leveraging data and automation to improve security visibility and operational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in security operations, threat monitoring, and incident response, along with the analytical skills needed to transform security telemetry into actionable insights. This position works closely with security, engineering, and infrastructure teams to identify risks, improve detection capabilities, and enhance overall security posture across enterprise and cloud environments.
While Python, SQL, and reporting tools are important components of the role, the primary focus is cybersecurity operations, threat detection, and security analytics. Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, security operations, threat detection, or a related security discipline
• Strong experience with threat monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management
• Experience investigating security events, alerts, logs, and telemetry
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender or similar security platforms
• Experience working within Microsoft Azure environments
• Strong Python scripting and automation skills
• Strong SQL skills with experience querying and analyzing security data
• Understanding of security operations, threat detection methodologies, and incident response processes
• Ability to communicate technical findings and security risks to various stakeholders
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience in a SOC, Security Operations, or Blue Team environment
• Experience developing security analytics and detection use cases
• Familiarity with regulated environments and continuous monitoring programs
• Experience automating security workflows with Python or PowerShell
• Experience building dashboards and operational reporting solutions using Power BI or similar tools
• Knowledge of threat hunting techniques and security investigation methodologies
• Security certifications are a plus

What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities

• Monitor, investigate, and respond to security alerts and suspicious activity across enterprise and cloud environments
• Analyze security telemetry to identify trends, anomalies, threats, and operational risks
• Support incident response, containment, and remediation efforts
• Evaluate vulnerability data and partner with technical teams to prioritize remediation activities
• Develop and enhance security detections, monitoring capabilities, and operational processes
• Build automation solutions using Python to improve security operations efficiency
• Utilize SQL to support investigations, reporting, and security analytics initiatives
• Create and maintain dashboards, metrics, and reporting that provide visibility into security performance and risk
• Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to improve overall security posture
• Support Azure security initiatives and continuous monitoring efforts

The Offer

• $40-$60/hour
• 6-month contract with potential extension
• Hybrid work environment (1 day onsite per week)
