Job description
About the Role
Join a small team in the defense and space sector as its first dedicated electrical engineer. You will prepare a satellite flight computer for launch and contribute to electronics for orbital GPU computing.
What You'll Do
Design and own the flight computer for a satellite mission, with this as the primary focus during your first 90 days.
Build prototypes, bring up hardware, and debug systems in the Los Angeles lab alongside engineering leadership.
Collaborate with contract manufacturers and original design manufacturers on electronics and computing systems for a larger satellite.
Evaluate high-speed interconnect technologies, including NVLink and SerDes, as well as photonics and optical interconnects.
Develop firmware and platform software for payload systems when needed.
What We're Looking For
0 to 15 years of electrical or computer engineering experience, including at least one year in a high-growth startup or experience in a 0-to-1 environment.
End-to-end experience designing custom boards or system boards, including schematics, high-speed PCB layout, hardware bring-up, and debugging.
Experience with high-speed digital design and signal and power integrity fundamentals.
A degree in electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Startup experience, including for candidates who have also worked in aerospace, government contracting, or other large engineering organizations.
Relevant experience may include GPUs, accelerators, SoCs, ASICs, photonics, optical interconnects, networking, contract manufacturing, satellite systems, or radiation-hardened hardware.
Familiarity with embedded C/C++, firmware, Linux, or Python is useful.
