About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Review Board (MRB) Design Engineer to support the production of advanced aerospace and defense systems. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating non-conforming hardware, driving root cause investigations, and implementing corrective actions that ensure product quality, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Leadership to resolve production issues, support continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain schedule commitments in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

Serve as a key member of the Material Review Board (MRB), reviewing non-conforming hardware and assessing potential impacts on product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Lead and support investigations of production defects, failures, and quality issues to determine root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Work collaboratively with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams to develop timely and practical dispositions for discrepant hardware.

Perform engineering assessments and tolerance analyses to support manufacturing and product acceptance decisions.

Review engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation to ensure compliance with design requirements.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving process capability, and preventing recurrence of manufacturing issues.

Provide technical guidance and status updates to interdisciplinary teams and leadership.

Participate in weekly production and quality review meetings, presenting issue status, risk assessments, and mitigation plans.

Support production readiness activities and ensure engineering solutions align with manufacturing capabilities and program objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.

2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, production, aerospace, defense, automotive, or other highly regulated engineering environment.

2+ years of experience applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.

2+ years of experience performing tolerance stack-up and tolerance analysis.

2+ years of experience using PTC Creo for mechanical design and engineering support activities.

2+ years of experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and product documentation.

Ability to lead technical investigations and communicate findings effectively to cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

4+ years of experience interpreting engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.

2-4 years of experience supporting failure analysis, non-conformance investigations, or quality engineering activities.

4-6 years of practical GD&T application and dimensional analysis experience.

Experience working with MRB processes, production support engineering, or disposition of non-conforming material.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to leadership and multidisciplinary teams.

Experience supporting high-volume or complex electromechanical, aerospace, or precision manufacturing programs.
