Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer - Night Shift

Salary: £50,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off - Night Shift, 6:00pm-6:00am
Location: Slough

The Role

Vanta Staffing are currently recruiting for an experienced Engineering Technician to join a busy manufacturing environment.

Working as part of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring plant, machinery, equipment and services operate safely, efficiently and reliably. You will play a key role in minimising downtime, responding quickly to breakdowns and supporting continuous improvement across the operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills, together with hands-on experience of PLC-controlled production equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.

  • Respond promptly to mechanical and electrical breakdowns.

  • Diagnose faults, establish root causes and implement effective solutions.

  • Carry out routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on production equipment and machinery.

  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, quality and throughput.

  • Check and calibrate instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy.

  • Fit and replace components and parts as required.

  • Carry out quality and safety inspections.

  • Organise and complete routine servicing and planned maintenance schedules.

  • Ensure planned maintenance activities are completed within agreed timescales.

  • Complete accurate engineering records, documentation and shift handovers.

  • Keep operational management informed of repair progress and any issues affecting production.

  • Work closely with other departments and shifts to maintain operational efficiency.

  • Liaise with contractors and external service providers when required.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Participate in training, briefings and improvement projects.

  • Work flexibly across different areas of the operation as required.

  • Complete ad hoc engineering projects and duties as directed by your line manager.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on engineer who can work effectively under pressure and has a strong focus on safety, reliability and continuous improvement.

You will ideally have:

  • A recognised Engineering qualification.

  • A minimum of 5 years' engineering experience.
