Senior Maintenance Planning Engineering Specialist

Location: Phoenix, AZ Salary: $95,000.00 USD Annually - $125,000.00 USD Annually Description:
We are seeking a Maintenance Planning & Reliability Engineer to bridge enterprise asset reliability strategies with field-level maintenance execution. In this role, you will transform approved maintenance strategies, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) findings into actionable maintenance programs within SAP S/4HANA EAM, APM, and CMMS platforms.
You will be responsible for developing standardized maintenance plans, job plans, task lists, and preventive maintenance programs that drive consistent, high-quality maintenance execution across a multi-site asset portfolio. This position plays a critical role in maximizing asset performance, reliability, and lifecycle value while ensuring alignment with operational priorities and enterprise asset management objectives.
Responsibilities

• Translate approved maintenance strategies and FMEA outputs into executable maintenance plans within SAP S/4HANA EAM, APM, and CMMS systems.
• Develop detailed job plans and task lists that address identified failure modes and include labor requirements, tools, materials, OEM recommendations, inspection criteria, and safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate asset master data, including equipment records, functional locations, task lists, and asset hierarchies.
• Configure and optimize Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs, including scheduling logic, call horizons, and maintenance cycles.
• Manage Bill of Materials (BOM) integration to support maintenance planning, parts availability, procurement, and work execution.
• Ensure master data integrity and consistency across all asset classes and site locations.
• Deploy and govern enterprise maintenance standards across multiple sites while enabling controlled site-level modifications where appropriate.
• Maintain version control, deployment tracking, and audit documentation for maintenance plans and standards.
• Review and audit maintenance plans to ensure alignment with reliability strategies, OEM recommendations, and operational best practices.
• Continuously improve maintenance programs through incorporation of equipment performance data, lessons learned, reliability studies, and updated FMEA findings.
• Support maintenance readiness and plan development during asset commissioning and startup activities.
• Partner with Reliability Engineering teams to prioritize maintenance plan updates following significant equipment failures.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to ensure material availability and BOM accuracy.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for site maintenance planners regarding job plan development, CMMS configuration, and maintenance standards.
• Engage OEMs and technical stakeholders to obtain equipment-specific maintenance and reliability guidance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
One of the following:

• High School Diploma or GED with 9+ years of engineering or maintenance reliability experience; OR
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Reliability, Maintenance, Operations, or a related scientific discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience.

Required Qualifications

• Experience developing and configuring maintenance plans, PM programs, task lists, work orders, and equipment master data within SAP PM, SAP S/4HANA EAM, IBM Maximo, or a similar enterprise CMMS/ERP platform.
• Strong understanding of FMEA methodologies and the ability to convert failure analysis outputs into practical maintenance activities.
• Knowledge of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and condition-based maintenance practices.
• Experience supporting industrial asset management programs in heavy industry, mining, manufacturing, energy, or similar environments.
• Familiarity with mobile mining equipment and/or fixed plant assets, including:
• Haul trucks
• Shovels
• Drills
• Crushers
• Mills
• Conveyors
• Pumps
• Screens
• Strong technical writing skills with the ability to develop clear, detailed work instructions for maintenance personnel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver maintenance planning initiatives across diverse asset portfolios.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and risk management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing enterprise maintenance or reliability programs.
• Experience with equipment lifecycle planning and capital replacement planning.
• Multi-site maintenance planning or corporate reliability experience.
• Participation in RCM studies, FMEA workshops, or reliability improvement initiatives.
• Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent certification.
• SAP PM Power User/Super User certification or IBM Maximo administration experience.
• Experience with maintenance document management systems and version control processes.
• Working knowledge of condition monitoring technologies, including:
• Vibration analysis
• Oil analysis
• Thermography
• Predictive maintenance technologies
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong presentation and leadership capabilities.
