Mid-Level Zero Trust Cybersecurity Engineer

• Candidates must be able to work 2-3 days on-site in the St. Louis area* We are seeking a Mid-Level Zero Trust Cybersecurity Engineer to support a growing federal cybersecurity program. This role will help implement security technologies and apply Zero Trust principles across complex enterprise environments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on cybersecurity engineer who has directly configured, integrated, deployed, or supported security solutions. This position is intended for a technical doer rather than a high-level architect, policy specialist, or compliance-focused professional. Responsibilities

Implement, integrate, configure, and support cybersecurity technologies within a federal environment.
Apply Zero Trust principles across identity, network, endpoint, application, data, and cloud security.
Analyze technical environments to identify security gaps and recommend practical improvements.
Translate security requirements and Zero Trust guidance into implementable technical solutions.
Configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain security tools and controls.
Support secure access, authentication, authorization, segmentation, monitoring, and policy enforcement.
Collaborate with security architects, network engineers, application teams, infrastructure teams, and client stakeholders.
Assist with cloud security, DevSecOps, vulnerability management, security monitoring, and system-hardening initiatives.
Develop technical documentation, implementation plans, standard operating procedures, and configuration guidance.
Communicate technical issues and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Three or more years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, security engineering, network security, cloud security, or identity and access management.
Experience configuring, deploying, integrating, or supporting cybersecurity technologies.
Understanding of Zero Trust concepts and their application across enterprise security environments.
Experience troubleshooting security, access, connectivity, or configuration issues.
Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder-engagement skills.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Active U.S. Government Secret clearance.
Ability to travel occasionally for client meetings or program activities.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting the U.S. Federal government or Department of Defense. Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:
Identity and Access Management
Zero Trust Network Access
Network security
Cloud security
Endpoint security
Application security
Security monitoring
DevSecOps
Vulnerability management
Security architecture implementation
Experience with technologies such as Appgate, Zscaler, Okta, SailPoint, Ping Identity, CyberArk, AWS, or Microsoft Azure.

Experience with software-defined perimeter technologies, secure remote access, network segmentation, or identity-aware access controls. Familiarity with federal Zero Trust guidance and cybersecurity requirements.
