Job Description
Duties May Include:
- Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure database solutions to support mission-critical applications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams during all phases of implementation including requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration, and deployment
- Configure and maintain database environments, including backup, restore, high-availability, and disaster recovery strategies
- Monitor and tune database performance using industry-standard tools and methodologies (query optimization, indexing strategies)
- Implement data security measures, access controls, and compliance standards across environments
- Automate routine database loading, maintenance, and monitoring tasks to improve efficiency
- Provide technical guidance and best practices for database design, migration, and integration projects
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA
- Familiarity with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, and security
- Scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows
- Knowledge of Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows environments
- Exposure to geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers
- US Citizenship required
- Active or current (within two years of active) Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabases
- CompTIA Security+ certification
- Knowledge of integrating GIS with other enterprise systems
- One or more industry-standard IT certifications (Esri, CompTIA, Microsoft, Amazon, PostgreSQL, or Oracle)
