Job Description

Electrical Engineer

What You Will Do

  • Provide technical guidance and engineering support for assigned electrical engineering projects.

  • Support senior engineering staff in the development and implementation of electrical projects focused on improving safety, operational efficiency, cost control, quality, reliability, and environmental performance.

  • Review, investigate, and develop recommendations for assigned engineering projects and technical challenges.

  • Manage small- to medium-sized site construction, expansion, modification, and improvement projects.

  • Support senior engineering staff with large or complex facility planning, construction, expansion, and modification projects.

  • Administer vendor and contractor agreements for engineering services, equipment, and related project requirements.

  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.

  • Support engineering strategic planning, capital planning, and budgeting activities.

  • Develop, evaluate, and support capital expenditure requests and project justifications.

  • Participate in project teams, technical committees, task forces, and other cross-functional initiatives as needed.

  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, methods, and engineering practices to improve operational performance.

  • Perform other engineering and project-related duties as required.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline with three (3) years of related engineering experience; or

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline with two (2) years of related engineering experience.

  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices, with working knowledge of mechanical and process engineering concepts.

  • Ability to research, analyze, and evaluate complex technical information and develop sound engineering recommendations.

  • Strong understanding of workplace safety principles, electrical hazards, and applicable safety practices.

  • Ability to identify hazards and consistently follow established safety procedures.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Familiarity with electronics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and industrial control systems.

  • Experience managing small- to medium-sized engineering projects.

  • Ability to evaluate and implement new technologies, methods, and techniques to improve operational efficiency and reliability.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree and/or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.

  • Coursework or professional experience in power systems engineering.

  • Experience with power system modeling and analysis software such as SKM, ETAP, or similar platforms.

  • Experience with industrial AC/DC motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and plant instrumentation.

  • Experience with powerline layout, engineering, and construction.

  • Experience with medium-voltage (MV) electrical power systems.

  • Experience in industrial, heavy construction, manufacturing, energy, mining, or similar environments.

  • Experience with electrical construction and project leadership.

  • Knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E requirements and electrical safety standards.

  • Experience designing power, instrumentation, and control systems.

  • Proficiency with ETAP, AutoCAD, or similar engineering/design software.

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering documentation tools.
