Lead Data Engineer – AWS / Databricks

Prior experience working with an airline is preferred. Candidates must be local to Houston, TX, and willing to attend a face-to-face interview.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in AWS, Databricks, Redshift, Spark/PySpark, Python, and SQL. The ideal candidate will have proven technical leadership experience and a strong background in modern data engineering, data lake/lakehouse architecture, and cloud data platform modernization.

Prior experience working with an Airline/Aviation client is strongly preferred. Candidates must be local to Houston, TX and willing to attend a face-to-face interview.

Required Qualifications

  • 12–15 years of strong Data Engineering experience with proven technical leadership.

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Amazon Redshift, Databricks, Spark/PySpark, Python, and SQL.

  • Proven experience leading Redshift-to-Databricks migration and modernization initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of Data Lake/Lakehouse architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data modeling.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as:

    • Amazon S3

    • AWS Glue

    • Amazon EMR

    • AWS Lambda

  • Strong experience with Databricks Delta Lake, Medallion Architecture, and data platform performance optimization.

  • Proven ability to lead engineering teams, mentor developers, and drive technical architecture and design decisions.

  • Strong stakeholder communication skills, with experience collaborating with business teams, architects, technical leadership, and other stakeholders.

  • Strong experience with data pipeline development, optimization, scalability, and cloud-based data platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aviation / Airline / Aerospace domain experience is strongly preferred.

  • Prior experience working with a major Airline client is highly desirable.

  • Experience with large-scale data platform modernization and migration programs.

  • Experience working in a hybrid environment with onsite collaboration.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must be local to Houston, TX.

  • Must be willing to work in a hybrid environment.

  • Must be available for a Face-to-Face interview in Houston, TX.

  • Prior Airline/Aviation/Aerospace experience is strongly preferred.
