Quick Overview
Job Description
SAP FICO Business Analyst
£50,000 - £65,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Permanent
SAP FICO Business Analyst - Permanent - On Site - Congleton - £50,000-£65,000
Important: This role requires hands-on SAP FI/CO experience. Applications without a demonstrable SAP background will not be considered. The position is full time on site in the Congleton area, five days per week - local candidates or those able to commute reliably are strongly encouraged to apply.
TalentBank Technology is retained by a well-established manufacturing business in the Congleton area to appoint a permanent SAP FICO Business Analyst into a major greenfield SAP S/4HANA implementation - with a clear, mapped progression into a senior BA seat as the programme matures.
The business is implementing SAP S/4HANA from the ground up - no existing ERP documentation, transitioning from Legacy platforms to standard SAP best-practice processes with Finance (FI/CO) at the core, alongside supply chain and logistics (MM/SD). You'll be Embedded in the programme from day one, working alongside the Programme Manager and the external SAP implementation partner, learning the solution architecture as it is designed and built rather than inheriting it afterwards.
This is a growth hire, not a revolving-door programme seat. The path is deliberate: learn the system through the implementation, step up as the implementation partner hands over, and become the business's own SAP expert - with a junior hire planned beneath the role as the programme matures. If you're an SAP FICO analyst with a few years behind you and the ambition to own something, this is the rare role actually built for exactly that.
Key Responsibilities
- Support requirements gathering and process design across FI/CO - General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and controlling processes - translating business needs into clear Business Requirement Documents for the SAP implementation partner
- Assist in mapping AS-IS Legacy finance and operational workflows to standard TO-BE SAP processes, identifying gaps, change impacts and configuration needs
- Support data migration - cleansing, extraction and validation of Legacy finance and master data into the new SAP environment
- Document business change impacts and configuration Change Requests for approval by the programme's Design Authority
- Create and execute test scripts for System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing; coordinate testing cycles and track defects through to resolution
- Develop training manuals, user guides and standard operating procedures; deliver end-user training and dedicated hypercare support at go-live
- Post go-live: own business analysis across the SAP landscape as you grow into the senior seat - process improvement, change requests and continuous improvement across FI/CO, MM and SD
Required Experience
- Hands-on SAP FI/CO experience is essential - GL, AP, AR as a minimum - gained as an SAP Business Analyst, Support Analyst, Finance Systems Analyst or Key User heavily involved in a rollout
- Circa 1-4 years of SAP experience - this role is pitched at the mid level with genuine, structured progression to senior
- Exposure to any stage of an implementation life cycle - requirements gathering, data cleansing, testing or training
- Working knowledge of MM or SD and their integration points with Finance is a strong advantage
- Direct experience of a greenfield SAP S/4HANA implementation or template rollout is highly desirable
- Familiarity with data migration tools (SAP Migration Cockpit, LSMW) an advantage
- SAP certification in FI or CO an advantage
- Strong communication skills - able to explain SAP behaviour in simple language to users seeing the system for the first time
- Able to commit to five full days per week on site - this is a firm requirement
Salary is £50,000-£65,000 dependent on experience, with a defined progression path - and salary trajectory - into the senior BA position as the programme matures. The client's priority is finding the right person to grow with the system.
